Nice relaxing and chill environment. Nice music and fair drink prices. The redlight disctrict can be expensive but this was a great find. Definately will be back the next time i am in town. The staff was exceptional especially the man behind the bar .

Came here end of June and booked a superior room. All I can say is wow! I have visited Amsterdam around 20 times and can honestly say that this is the best place I have stayed. Room was great, staff were friendly and helpful. Very central, very clean, and for all those moaners about the step stairs..... this is Amsterdam, it's... More

As the title say we booked one of their small doubles. The room was small but totally perfect. Safe, smart TVs, tea making facilities, etc. Great for a shorter stay we were there 3 nights any longer choose for their other options on line ie bigger double. We loved this place, great breakfast, cocktails, bar and staff fantastic. I recommend... More

It is a very small hotel, and the rooms are small, but have everything you need. The bathroom is ok, the rooms are clean. Be aware that there is no elevator. The bed was very good. We had a room at the top floor in the middle. It was nice we had a window that could be fully opened. It... More

First two visits were met with lovely, friendly service. Third and final visit was the complete opposite, sadly. Originally we found this a great place to sit outside of and soak up the atmosphere around us. Not jam-packed like the place next door or the Grasshopper, just right. Spotting a few locals there too was a good sign in our... More

The hotel location was excellent. Very near to Amsterdam Centraal and Dam square stop of the tram so it was very easy to get around Amsterdam. The attractions like Red Light District, Canal cruise, Sex Museum were within walking distance as well. The room was good, clean and well decorated. We were provided with tea/ coffee packs in the room.... More

Just back from a 3 day stay here. Cant really fault the place, lucky to get a big room which was very clean and towels were changed everyday. Yes the stairs are steep however it's the same in pretty much every hotel in Amsterdam. Right in the centre and yes can be a little noisey but you expect that If... More

The staff were so lovely and went out of their way to help us out. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel itself is basic but the distance from the station is very useful when you're travelling independently.

We stayed for 3 days in Amsterdam, the hotel is incredibly close to the train station. Yes the stairs are small, but are typical. The room is small but very cosy and confortable. Free wi-fi. Close to red light district, close to bars.. if you are going to Amsterdam to party it's fine, but for us it was difficult at... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
