We had three rooms for our stay so had the chance to see some of the different layouts and have to say we got lucky with one of the bigger double bed rooms on the third floor. The room was spacious enough for two people and our stuff. The stairs are STEEP but after spending some time in Amsterdam you... More

To be honest, this is a tricky review and rating. Firstly and MOST importantly is the access to the rooms. The stairs to the first and second floors are literally LADDER LIKE, extremely steep, narrow steps and curved bannister rails. Even without any luggage, this is a challenge indeed. I would strongly suggest you INSIST on help with your luggage.... More

I am not one to complain on these kind of media, I would just not return. But the hotel was terribly overpriced for the accommodation, and the desk person was very inhospitable. I have seldom felt as unwelcome just by the way we were spoken to - an eery feeling and passively uncivilized. The room was outdated and too warm,... More

I booked through Expedia. The price charged could be justified if it was a Hotel and not a Guesthouse with poor exteriors, non-existent lobby, receptionist 12hrs/day, no breakfast room. On a more positive note the receptionists were kind, and the room in good order. Also, the location is very central. Bottom line: value for money was quite low (charge less,... More

The room was very small, there was hardly enough space to walk from the bedside to the bathroom. The bathroom was also very small. The stairs to the room were steep and they didn't help us transfer our luggage to the room. The curtains, the blanket and one of the towels had stains. Although the hotel is in a convenient... More

We stayed a week at the Amstelzicht in September. We booked here because we got fed up of trawling through dozens of hotels, checking reviews & moving on so we made a snap decision based upon the hotel website & photos. Big mistake. We opted for the ground floor double which shown on a picture on a booking website looked... More

The hotel is lovely, rooms are nice with tea and coffee facilities. We stayed downstairs and the stairs are very steep and tiny but the whole place is funky and it's an enjoyable experience. Front desk bent over backwards for us, always pleasant and friendly whenever we had a question. There is a laundromat not too far away as well... More

We were put into rooms on the basement of the hotel, without previous Informations about this. The rooms were full of mold, even sleeping in this room with the smell of mold was not able. The worst experience was the behaviour of the staff. The flush on the toilet was operated-according to a sign found near the toilet- through an... More

While this hotel is on the canal, and many have raved about its canal view rooms and their fantastic stays here, you may have a difference experience depending on which room you get. Beware that this hotel is located directly behind restaurants and bars on Rembrandt Square, which is quite a party scene at night. A small service alley runs... More

We stayed in Amsterdam for just 2 nights and were very keen to be close to the centre but not to pay extortionate prices for a short break. Getting to the Hotel is quite easy; we got a train to 'Centraal' and a tram from there (we got a taxi from the hotel to the train station which only cost... More
