I stayed for five nights.
Not that clean. The location is fine, relatively close to the airport, but the shuttle bus finishes at 11.30 pm. The rooms are overall clean, but not the premises. The walls are poorly maintained. They need to be painted, dirt in the lift, sticky tables, bars and floors in the restaurant area. Reception closes doors, and you must wait for somebody to open the door. I do not think it deserves four stars. The bed is comfortable, and the room has a fridge, but it turns off unless you leave the key card. I left it, and the lights were on the whole day until I returned. I turned them off when I left. Although I stated there was no need to change my towels, they changed them every time I asked to clean and empty my bins. I left a note not to change them, but I do not think employees understood English. An apparent man dressed as a woman, in reception. He seemed to be a manager. I could understand this happening in a hostel or a room in a theatre (show), but not in an apparent four-star hotel. Said this, this man was kind and helpful. Therefore, I do not hesitate about his abilities and efficiency. The bathroom does not have a bath but a shower. There is poor light in the bathroom. Basic toiletries. I did not eat breakfast nor eat dinner. I cannot comment on the quality of the food. The issue is the distance to the airport, which is difficult to walk.

Our room had a bit of mold. When I would wipe up the floor, there was a lot of dark mold that I had to clean. I was not comfortable walking around in my bare feet. The room is also very very small, including the bathroom. The service was good at times, but they certainly need more people. The team at the front desk would also doubled as the bartender, so waiting was the norm. Breakfast was good, but certainly not 5 star. Location near the tram was good; it was a very short walk to the tram. From the station to downtown Amsterdam was about a 15 minute ride and very very easy and convenient.

Was there for 10 day business trip. In the current C19 environment, everything was great. Restaurant was reasonable and a good choice of beers. Staff all friendly and professional
Gym and pool available in normal circumstances
Only minus point is lack of a bicycle available for rent / gratis. A lot of Dutch hotels offer this service
Shuttle bus to and from Schiphol Airport very 30 mins. This is useful as you can go back to Schiphol for access to Amsterdam and, shopping facilities at airport

Friendly staff, rooms are clean and breakfast is very good. Location is close to public transport. Hotel overall is clean. We enjoyed our stay though we need to get 2 rooms because all the rooms can only accommodate 2 people quite pricey but it’s all worth it.

We have just stayed for two nights/three days and I cannot fathom how this hotel is not rated higher.
From the moment we arrived the hotel staff were polite, friendly and switched from Dutch to English to talk to us and the other guests which I thought was really lovely as I was nervous to get by with the little Dutch I had researched.
When we got back after going out the beds had been made without our asking and the room tidied, which is something you don’t get in England without requesting and something I may be growing accustom to as it was a nice treat to have the coffee refills refilled without having to remember in the morning.
I will be thinking about that breakfast and all the many different options for quite some time; bacon, eggs made to order, cereal, fruit, patè, toast and yougurt honestly, I may return on holiday purely to partake in the breakfast, and at €14 each, it was honestly exquisite.
We have enjoyed our time at the Bastian thoroughly and I cannot understand why the hotel isn’t rated higher if that is the standard in which the guests are treated and the hotel runs.
Very enjoyable, will be back soon !

avoid this place like the plague!!
this was booked for several months for 21st present.
on the day of arrival they took full payment not an issue until a few hours later they emailed the cancellation of the rooms when we was on our way to airport!
they dint answer phones or emails so when got there they alledgly couldn't find booking.
when we produced the booking email .
they said systems were down so couldnt find the booking whilst laughing and joking about it.
then said they couldnt check us in as was after 11 which threy knew already but others was arriving and checking in ,
they then said they could book us in if we paid 200 euros more no chance then the smug manager came along saying he had taken our money in his own pocket pay extra or leave!!
they wasnt concerened they was putting 6 21 year olds on the street in a strange country.
after several hours managed to find a hostel for the night and booked another hotel the following day ,
still not had a refund as of yet .
disgusting place in a very dodgy area.
there was full blown gangs fighting outside there aswell

The hotel does not deserve any stars! In one word my experience is " PATHETIC"!!! This hotel costed us 150 euros per night and I literally feel robbed after staying here. The receptionist is rude and inconsiderate. There is no water bottle given in the rooms. The rooms are ridiculously small and the bathroom is even smaller. The floor passage stinks everytime you walk out of the room. The staff expects us to drink from the bathroom sink but the sink is so small that the cup given actually sits on the sink bottom to be filled. On complaining the staff asked us to go for a better hotel and its not their concern that we are having concerns.
If you are coming to Amsterdam then I would recommend you to please NOT book this hotel. There are far more better hotels at cheaper rates available. Even hostels are better than this I would stay. Its my worst experience in Europe and would highly recommend skipping this hotel while booking for your amsterdam trip.

Pretty friendly checkin and checkout worker. Too few channels on TV (Around 17, of which only France 24 was Anglophone). The duvet was a bit thick, but soft. The bathroom lacked a dedicated soap bottle. The room was otherwise nice enough. The breakfast buffet was very sad stuff. The door to the lifts on 9th floor could need some greasing. My top tip: When arriving to the hotel by non-car, use the pedestrian side of the tunnel from west, not the bicycle road (due to a total lack of crosswalks in the area).

My friend and I booked a two-night stay over a weekend, checking in on Friday. On returning to our room on Saturday, we discovered our room had been moved without our consent. Our belongings were packed without notification or attempt to contact us, left beside the reception. We were informed of a system error causing this issue, but no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience was offered. Worse, my liquid medication leaked onto my clothes, and personal hygiene items went missing. This breach of privacy is unacceptable. While Julia, the assistant hotel manager, mentioned discussing compensation with the manager, we've received no updates. Very disappointing service! We are frustrated over their rudeness and attitude of "not taking any action but letting it die".
The room is old and small but ok standard for a 3 stars hotel. Tiny basin in every rooms, barely enough space for washing hands. Breakfast was ok but very spectacular quality of food. Rather boring choices of drinks. Not recommendable hotel because of indifferent staffs who doesn't care about customers.

We arrived Friday night and someone came into our room at 4am.. I dressed and went to reception and told staff and asked what was going on. They said it was them who entered room as computer does not work at night and she forgot to tick off the paper work so thought room was empty. So showed guests to it. We had only checked in a few hours earlier! I asked to see a manager as she did not appreciate how scary this was and was confrontational. This is when she began to swear, shout and threaten to put me out of the hotel as she had "the power". Two other guests came in and she then began to swear and shout at them and told them she would put them out and she w ould just put all the english people out! I reported to manager in the morning and requested refund as I did not feel safe or welcome but was told only head office could make decision and we're closed until Monday so had to stay. Hair dryer did not work and no replacement available so I had to ask to go to another room but it didn't work there either so after third room it did but there was no concern that I was getting ready for a wedding. Manager on Monday was not interested and did not think there was anything wrong in what her staff did. Disgusting hotel, rude staff and a yoghurt lid lay on the hallway floor for two days before anyone removed it.
