The owner and staff of Hotel van Onna were terrific. They even managed to somehow keep the rain away much of the time. It was the second time we stayed there and the next time in Amsterdam we plan to stay there as well. The rooms were small and could use a bit more updating, but were comfortable enough for... More

The Hotel van Onna was in a good location close to the tram lines or about 20 mins walk from the main station. The rooms were clean but small and there was no lift (we were on the 5th floor). which was a bit tricky with luggage but we managed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was... More

I stayed here before with my son and was very happy with it's location and value for money; this hasn't changed. But this time I was on my own and stayed in a single room I wouldn't recommend these as the 2 that I tried were badly located and extremely small. Apart from that it's still one of the best... More

Good value, great location, very pleasant, clean and well maintained, with helpful staff. If you don't intend to spend much time in your hotel, and don't mind short walks/cycling, this is a good place to stay.

for those who got used to luxure and high-level hotels this one is not the case. it is really simple but increadibly home-like hotel, where everyone seems to know you for the whole life and like you. the rooms are tiny, but if you stay in a hotel just to have nice place to spend nights that's not a problem;... Room 46 was great - quiet and with a lovely view. It's a simple hotel with fantastic staff and a brilliant breakfast plus a great view of the canal out the front door. Initially I had trouble finding it, but learnt to just head towards Anne Frank House. Once in the know it's really easy to find and accessible from... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
