We have just stayed here for 3 nights. We loved everything - from the warm welcome of the owners, including a welcome drink and lots of information about the city, to the lovely room and its location. As previous reviewers note the stairs are steep. I would rather call them funny, its an experience. The room was at the back... More

I have stayed in Amsterdam a few times before but this location is just unbeatable. So close to everything, yet the room is so calm and quiet. It was so nice to return back to the Tulip after a day of sight-seeing. Actually we only stayed here because Amsterdam At Home - where we stayed 3 nights before - couldn`t... More

We stayed in this guesthouse for three nights. Amsterdam Central Train Station is around 10 minutes away and they provided us a map on their email confirmation to find it easily. We love that part as you know that they care. We were welcomed warmly, David offered us some drinks and took all the time to suggest places to visit... More

I have stayed with the Tulip a few times now, and I will not stay anywhere else! This time I stayed in the Studio Guesthouse and it was really perfect. It overlooks the canal and has a big open feel about it, not to mention a fairly large bathroom (somewhat unusual in Amsterdam). Because it is on a smaller street,... More

We booked the Studio (small apartment with self-catering) at Tulip guesthouse for our stay during the ISE Exhibition in Amsterdam. This was the 5th year attending the exhibition and the 4th accommodation (we have stayed 2 times in the same place before) As we arrived, we were invited to their small reception area and were offered a beer or something... I have stayed in Amsterdam many times before (mainly for work) and this was one of the best accommodations so far. I stayed here for 4 nights, before moving to another place nearby for my last night. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Even though I am quite familiar with the city, he did his best to add some... More

I stayed at Cloud9 in August 2012 (sorry for my late review guys!). It was EXCELLENT. You cannot get more centrally located, and the flat itself was not only clean and well stocked, but there were lots of little homely touches that made us feel extremely welcome. When we arrived, Angelo's friend let us in and gave us perfect advice... More

very cozy place with awesome service. I was picked up from a different hotel by Arnold, nice guy! clean bathrooms. The only thing is you can't smoke inside and how I wish there was a microwave. Other than that, had a great stay at Cloud 9

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
