We booked this hotel because we wanted somewhere cheap and centrally located for our 5 day trip. After booking I decided to google the reviews... Safe to say I was very hesitant and worried about staying here due to a few bad reviews. I am a firm believer that you cannot judge a place solely on the negatives and I'm glad I didnt. We were given the attic room on the very top floor. Most buildings in Amsterdam are very tall and narrow so there was a lot of winding stairs to navigate to get to our room and the stairway was quite claustrophobic but this didnt bother us really as we weren't constantly in and out of the hotel and its just something that you deal with. The staff are a credit to the place. Every staff member we saw on reception were always friendly and helpful. We got given clean towels almost everyday, the bin was emptied everyday and the beds were often re-made which we appreciated. The room was very basic which again, we weren't bothered about as we simply wanted somewhere to sleep, shower and get ready and it sufficed. With being the attic room the ceiling slanted inwards which meant the shower and toilet were awkwardly placed and wouldnt be ideal for anyone taller than about 5ft7 but there isnt anything the hotel can do about it, its the layout of the building. My partner found it slightly uncomfortable to shower but again its basic and fulfilled our needs for our stay. The bathroom was a wet room so was slightly annoying that the bathroom floor stayed wet for quite a while but leaving the bathroom door open for the day did the job. It could do with an upgrade and a few improvements/modernisation but if you're just looking for a comfy bed and a quick shower then this is ideal. About a 20 minute, pleasant walk from Amsterdam Centrum so its quiet enough to sleep but still not too far from everything. We enjoyed our stay.

Very poor accommodation, old furniture, broken window frames, unstable internet, issues with the safe box. Booking position offered nice looking view from the window, but my window looked out on the technical floor with water pipes. It was quite disappointing.

However the hotel staff was quite friendly, polite and assisting. Also, the price is relatively low for the center of the city, and the hotel's street is very nice place to live and for visiting nearby sites.

To sum up, if you are travelling solo and only need a cheap place to sleep, maybe it would be a reasonable choice. In all other cases I wouldn't recommend this option.

Place is clean and tidy, beds got made everyday which I didn’t expect. Close to the centre, 5 minute tram outside the hotel, or a 20 minute walk. Slightly noisy as the windows aren’t great, didn’t bother us as we are heavy sleepers. There was scaffolding outside the hotel which was a bit of a pain, as every morning men would talk and laugh at 7am and would sit eye level with you painting the building, had to keep the curtails closed the entire time. Giving the key back each time is a little bit of a pain as the staff were not always at the desk, that could do with being updated a little. A few things in the rooms need updating. Fridge doesn’t reach the plugs so never worked, we had a hair dryer and a coffee machine but our friends didn’t in their room. Every time somebody went to the toilet in the room above we could hear it, and their tv and talking very loud. Next door were loud coming in and out really early in the morning or late at night, but I suppose you get that in any hotel. Over all not a bad stay, just needs a few updates. As we didn’t spend much time in the hotel, great for getting your head down and very clean.

We didn’t even stay one hour in the hotel. My daughter was very sick and we asked for a refund for our 3 nights cause we had to leave the country on an emergency basis, no one from the management was supportive and they charged us for the whole stay without doing any exception for our situation. Not to also forget that we couldn’t speak to the manager at all, this show how well this hotel is managed whereby the manager doesn’t come at all.

The description of the room 'Spacious rooms on the first or second floor with street or back yard views.' what we got was a storeroom behind reception, so small two adults couldn’t stand at the same time, literally nowhere to put your clothes away, with a view of an AC unit. On Saturday night we had a knock on the door and the receptionist requesting to come in to get a heater from the store cupboard located in our room. As compensation I was offered a packet of crisps. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!

This hotel should be condemned. It is awful you wouldn't put your pet in it. The smell from the ensuite bathroom was horrendous. We complained about it and they said they would clean it, but you can't clean surage smell, we hardly used the bathroom as a result. Moving hotel wasn't an option. Stay well clear of it. This should be taken off all websites. They also asked us for additional €20.00 if we wanted to check in earlier than 2pm even though the room was ready and pre booked.

Clean sheets okay. Bath additionals well prepared.
One remark: Right hand window in room 21 when opened, falls out [almost].
Could be easily fixed I suppose.

Thanks for consideration.

See you next time.

Even very friendly staff could do nothing with awful smell from the bathroom and non-working refrigerator. Was able to sleep only after relocation at 3rd floor (walls are really very thin, and if your neighbours are noisy.. good luck!). Going downstairs with a heavy luggage was a nightmare! Among plusses - good location, nice cafes nearby.

I wouldn’t want my 17 year old there unless they like to rough it. Not sure if you have to 18 to stay in a hotel without an adult
