The hotel was very nice but the stairs that directed you to the hotel were very very steep and you need to be extra careful. The location was strategic since it was just steps away from the stop 'Artist' using tram 9. If you think you can deal with those stairs, I'd highly recommend the hotel.

The hotel is right next to the zoo, great public transport connection to both Leidseplein and the Dam, and there is a nice cafe just downstairs, and there are supermarkets, drugstores walking distance, so the location is brilliant. The staff was super helpful, the room was nice and clean, although a bit old. Even the price was reasonable. Best bit?... More

Our hotel was very cheap in comparison to similar star hotels in the same area. It was very clean from reception to the room and the room had everything we needed, including a safe, a hairdryer, a mini fridge and fan.The stairs were pretty steep, but this cam be expected anywhere in Amsterdam!

Stayed here for 3 days in the attic room the stairs are a death hazard and the height of the room is only suitable for midgets would never go back again the shower and toilet combined are the size of a small cupboard terrible for the price

Hotels needs a total refurbishment. I stayed at attic room. Never recommed this if you are travelling with families. Very steep stairs. I paid £120 a night which is not worth it. Only plus point is the location of this hotel which is good.

The room was quiet and I could sleep well. The bath room was small and many items were broken. The room was not clean. The stairway to the room was very steep and dangerous. Specifically, the ascension and descend with luggage was extremely narrow and dangerous

Very nice hotel. Nice room, convenient location, tram stop 20 sec walk and bars nearby. The possibility of hirering bicycles at a low cost is a bonus. The only issue was no WiFi connexion in the room wich we stayed in wich actually made us spend more time visiting the city. Good hotel

Hotel Plantage was my worst hotel experience ever. Note that I already visited +10 hotels in Amsterdam alone and +100 hotels worldwide. The curtains were to short so everybody on the street could see me. I woke up at 5:00 am because of the sunlight (couldn’t properly darken the room with the short curtains). The bathroom was in a horrible... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
