At first it is so near the centre (10mins walk) - or if u are lazy u can catch a train (50m from hotel) - looking at the map I thought it is much further. The room was bigger than I thought and very cimfortable - there are also smoking and non-smoking rooms. Wi-fi worka great, you can use their... More

Before our arrival we received a very helpful email from Plantage advising us how to get to the hotel via public transport from Schipol. Straight away this was over and above any requirement a hotel has, especially after receiving payment! We arrived at around 2030 on the Friday night and greeted by a very helpful gentleman who explained where was... More

I stayed here for one night as I arrived early for the group trip. I couldn't justify high prices for just me, and at 40euros this seemed a great price. I was very nervous when I arrived. Reception is on the first floor up a VERY steep staircase and I was just about to turn around and check into a... More

Hotel looks crappy, and the entry doorstep nearly killed me, but once you get to your room it all changes, very clean, and the beds are very comfortable, almost unseen in its price range, so i give it a 4 out of 5.

I have been in this hotel 3 times and Literally love it !<3 Even if I stayed in bigger rooms. My favourite one is the Small attic room n. 33 : definitely the best! ^_^ I met there some repeaters which come in the Hotel since many years! ;)

Well this was a group trip and all we wanted was a cheap room to crash in, was clean and in a very nice area 15 minutes walk from city centre, some of the group had smoking rooms which was handy late on, very basic but good value for money the major down side was the very steep and narrow... More

It was a good bed, a clean and quiet room, good bathroom (only shower). No elevator. The reception is not open before 9, and I had not received an instruction what to do. But there was a key box, and that worked well.

Traditional Dutch block of house with typical narrow stairs. If you are not into stairs, prepare yourself that you have to walk a few narrow/ steep steps to your room. Does not bother me whatsoever, but might be a problem to some. Location: Close enough to any city centre location even by walking or use the tram to get there... More

Very pleasant hotel with a very good location near Artis and Zoo. Very nice and helpful staff. A bit noisy because of the tram line. Comfortable beds and good bath room, though the shower was too hot.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
