My friend and I stayed for a short break at this hotel. Its centrally located, so handy for the station, the RLA, bars and restaurants and a good base to walk further into the city. I cannot praise the friendly and helpful team working there highly enough. They have created a very welcoming place, with some fab music - the...

I visited Amsterdam for pleasure, and I was on my own. Eight days into my trip, I was seriously homesick, and looking forward to returning home. I checked in here because of its location, and it was smoking friendly. What I lnpanded was a delightful home away from home with friendly staff, and an amazing local flavored atmosphere. I stayed in...

What a wonderful coffee shop this is. Small and friendly with a rare outdoor section. As you would expect they have a fine array of the world's best marijuana and were happy to offer advice on lighter or stronger strains. Been lots of times now and sitting in the sunshine drinking (admittedly very small) delicious coffees and cold drinks while...

+ This place is located on the very center of Amsterdam, the staff that welcomes you in the bar is quite friendly and cheerful. The room was quite big and comfortable for two. The breakfast is served on the bar and it was decent. - It was quite expensive!

Very alternative location to stay. Superb location very Much in the heart of central in Amsterdam. The accomidation is comfortable and caters for a wide variety of clients but is definitely smoker friendly. Typically Dutch with steep stairs and small rooms but furnished with comfortable mattresses and very helpful staff. This hotel provides free breakfast to set you up for...

Great clean room. Perfect location in middle of centre. Would definitely stay again. Stayed in the 'Turkish delight' room, twin single beds and private bathroom. Small but had everything you need with very well stocked minibar. Only negative is the cleaner starts very early and the walls are paper thin!

I stayed here for a night in a three bed room with my brother. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great and cooked to order. The location of this place is quite good. It is nearly in the center of Amsterdam making it easy to go everywhere in the city.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
