The room was adequate but the window blinders could not be opened (handle was missing). If you opened the window you could only see the inside of the blinders which were disgustingly filthy. The bed and shower were good. With 110 to 145 euro's per night these rooms are overpriced.

The hotel staff where helpful and friendly and the food at the hotel is nice. The rooms are basic but functional and are a decent size. Would have given 5 stars if a staff member didnt walk in up announced and if our key didnt stop working half way through. Also, staff cane in the room when there wasa do not disturb sign on and moved all my stuff around including clothes in my suit case. This felt like a violation of privacy although they where apologetic about it.

No tips but your hotel let me down at the last moment. Did not inform me when my room was sold off to someone else and when we arrived at the hotel the manager told us it was our fault as we reached there at 8 pm instead of 7 pm. What was surprising is that firstly I had requested to pay when booking at the hotel but they said they can’t send me a link for payment and instead I should pay directly at the hotel, secondly I never knew of this policy as even after having travelled fairly well through Europe never experienced something like this, thirdly the manager was ready to let us sleep on the road and after about 20 minutes of haggling he helped us get another room in a hotel 20 mins and about 20 kms from Campanile, a total waste of an evening that we looked forward to spending at Amsterdam instead of juggling between hotels. We asked and demanded reasons as to why they never bothered to call and inform us that they are selling out our room but the manager had no answer for it.Having travelled through the whole of Europe we are quite sure this is a result of poor management. We were sent to a hotel 20 kms away from Campanile, which resulted in our first evening plans to be thrown out the window. Total waste of money time and energy , I’d never recommend any body to trust a verbal booking here.

Dear Guest It is very useful that you share your disappointment with readers from Trip advisor regarding reservation conditions. In this digital world were people share so quickly there joy and grief it is easy to point a finger and tell that the other one is wrong . When guests make a reservation the rates and conditions are clear, indeed the hotel can not send you a link , you can pay by credit card or cash. If guests do not want to share credit card details we respect that but then you have to be in time. Unfortunately you were not in time nor informed us that you would be late so indeed we were entitled to release the room. It is the guests responsibility to inform the hotel when the conditions of arrival can not be met then we can look for a solution together. But indeed it was a surprise that you did arrive and then we do not just send you away without a solution. Not easy with Easter all hotels were full. We regret that your first night was a struggle and not what you expected but all the hotel did was find a solution for you. Kind regards Team Campanile

Nice stay at a decent price (although I had to pay some extra price in taxes at the checkout). It takes like 45 minutes to go to the city center, as it's not exactly in Central Station. The bathroom has a ventilator running all day and night, and the room window is at the common corridor, but they are not big annoyances.

Travel company I booked the hotel through never bothered to mention that renovations are going on at the hotel and have been since last Nov. Had been doing a lot of travelling that day and wanted a little sleep in the late afternoon before going out but couldn't because workman was drilling in the empty room next door which lasted till 6pm. Had a shower and then saw a puddle of water on the floor. Shower bottom had not been sealed properly. On the bright side, good location just outside central Amsterdam and a very good metro system 1-2 minutes walk away. Also the receptionists were very friendly and helpful.
