On arrival to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised by the location (almost the Oxford street of London) however, the hotel itself was more like Peckham high street. Very small corridor and a lift that felt like it was on the verge of breaking down every time you got in it. The room was basic but liveable for the 3... More

Let me start with the good points. The hotel is ideally located in the P.C. Hooftstraat, one of the main (and expensive) shoppingstreets of A'dam. Close to the Vondelpark, Museumsquare and the Rijksmuseum. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and practical. But that's about it. The 'lobby' is just big enough to enter as well as the... More

We reserved a hotel room hère from the 25th March 2016 until today 28th March. We were meeting our friends in Amsterdam who were staying in this hotel also. To begin with when we entered the room, it did not live up to the amazing luxurious pictures you display on your website & on booking.com The duvet sheet on the... More

We were pretty happy here, but I understand the bad reviews - this place needs work. The hotel entrance is on an expensive and safe street in a good location and around the corner from the tram. If you're organised you will have read your emails (which we hadn't because we were traveling) and will know they sent you a... More

I love this place! What a find! Let's count the ways: 1. So cheap.. Excellent value!!! 2. Excellent location, around the corner from a tram which brings you into the town centre within 5 minutes. 3. No staff (nice and private) 4. Located on Amsterdam's most expensive street, the PC Hoofstraat, (it's right beside Prada etc!) so feels safe 5.... More

Someone converted the 3 floors above a shop into 12 rooms and called it a hotel. It actually resembles 12 bedsits. There is no reception which is ok if everything works. Our door code stopped working and we couldn't get in our room twice, as did the people in the room next door and then the fire alarm went off... More

Our flights got cancelled last minute so we had to book this hotel as an emergency stay, for 75 quid for the night I wasn't expecting anything flashy but I also wasn't expecting to spend a night in a hotel where I actually questioned whether I'd survive the night. So the hotel is on the richest Street in amsterdam, above... More

I was a bit anxious when I booked due to me not reading no reception bit ( my bad) but we were sent codes beforehand and all worked well, other than having to take cases to sister hotel (Agora Hotel) which took another 10 minute walk. We were grateful to have somewhere to leave them before and after our stay.... More

First of all, when you take a reservation at this hotel, don't expect room service. Everything is set by email (address, code to enter in the hotel, room number and code to enter your room, ...) and for me this is a good idea. So... After a rainy day in 'Dam, we were happy to arrive at the hotel to... More

Great location - right on Amsterdam's Rodeo Drive, walking distance to Van Gogh and Reiks Museums, as well as numerous restaurants; had wifi in hotel, but no personnel (it's very very private). However, cold wind came in through windows and there isn't any soundproofing.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
