We just returned ffrom a week stay in the Coke apartment. Brendan and his team were very kind, thoughtful and helpful. The apt was stocked with everything we needed. The apartment had a wonderful canal view from the 3rd floor. (The steps got easier each day). It's located in a great area, central to the Dam, Rembrendtplein, Leidesplein, etc. Couldn't... More

I love Amsterdam Escape so much that I've stayed there twice this year, in May and in August. On both occasions Brendan and his crew provided exceptional help and made me feel at home even before I arrived. Located at Nieuwmarkt, the Escape apartments are close to all major attractions, and I also found it to be fun and relaxing... More

My husband and I stayed in the apartment called the Den which over looked the square. It was a lovely apartment and everything was clean, tidy and had everything you needed. We didnt find the location noisy and slept wonderfully but I have to agree with the one of the reviewers that the fish market started up very earlier with... More

If you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel accomodation in a tranquil and pleasant environment you might want to shop around some more. Our room was very noisy as our window faced the street and a square. At night the noise increased with the sounds of the patrons at the restaurant below. In the morning we were awakened by the... We stayed in the Amsterdam Hollywood in late April. Its a little further away from the Red Light District than some of the other Amsterdam Escape apartments but the location couldn't have been better. Out our window was a lovely quiet canal, 2 minutes from RLD, main shopping area and Dam Square. Mind you there was a crack head asleep... More

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Amsterdam Suite for three nights. The suite has one main room with the jukebox (very cool), tv, video games, mini-fridge (stocked with beer, sodas, cookies and candy), a small dresser and a double size Murphy Bed. The large beanbag lounger was the perfect spot to chill out and watch the canal and horse-drawn... More

Having found Amsterdam Escape as the number 1 recommendation on Trip Advisor I booked it for a business trip with my wife. We were booked into Amsterdam Tiny (AKA Amsterdam Sweet). On arrival we were surprised to find the office in a cellar with piles of rubbish outside, my wife wanted to leave immediately but I persuaded her to give... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
