Fantastic, friendly, clean hostel! I would go back to the Flying Pig Downtown anytime. Why? Because the staff were super friendly, always there to help and the atmosphere in the whole place was awesome. The bar (with pool table and smoking room) had a brilliant atmosphere and we had more fun in there on the Friday night than we did... More

This is a good hostel if you are traveling alone or with friends. Is located at the very center and everything is close. Breakfast is good although a little crowded and showers are a little bit uncomfortable. It has a great smoking lounge where you can relax and it is also very cheap.

This place was awesome and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a good atmosphere, central location and clean rooms during your stay in Amsterdam. It was super close to the airport train which was helpful when we arrived at 10pm and being located just minutes from the red light district and numerous coffee shops made it... More

Right. Essentially what the situation is.... Organisation:- Firstly, we arrived on the thursday night and received nothing from the staff but unproffesionalism. We firstly were standing at the reception/bar/window lickers palace and were not gifted with our keys until 45 minutes after arrival. Thinking this was bad... we were not impressed by the nick of our dude sweat infested bedroom... More

Stayed here for 2 nights at the start of August, booked it based on the really good reputation the hostel seemed to have. We booked two beds but when we got there we were put in a queen bed to share, this was fine for us as we are a couple but others might not be so keen! The room... More

A place always very cheerful, young, party going late into the night, super cool. All were very friendly and always ready to help. A tip.: Before going to bed take ear plugs, this being free and you can pick up at the front desk! I would for sure be back there!

Been to Amsterdam a good nine or ten times [love the culture of course] and this is THE place to be. We cpuldn't stay here last year due to it being fully booked and boy did we miss it. This play has the most fanstastic location; you're in the heart of the city; close to restaurants, fast food, and there... More

A group of us went to Amsterdam for a long weekend away. We decided on the Pig as it was right in the middle of where we wanted to be and (most importantly) pretty cheap. For what we paid we had a good, enjoyable experience there. Me and a fried booked earlier than the rest in our group and stayed... More

It's situated on a great spot in the city if you want to party and have a great time in Amsterdam. And I did! It's great to meet other fun travellers and the staff were very friendly too. The rooms were OK, I still slept well and security was very good. I loved how close it was to everything.

The flying pig was in a good location! It was a little hot in the rooms but in the middle of summer that was to be expected as most hostels had been like that. The room was tidy enough and provided lockers. We came home from a big night during our stay and found that the bar at the hostel... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
