We stayed for one night here and one night in another hostal I cannot recall. I am more used to hostels in China, so it is a little shocking for me to pay €20 for a shared room with multiple beds. Regardless, this is truly a hostel full of charm filled with good vibes, especially at night! Great experience!

Awesome place! The place to chill and use as a home base for exploring Amsterdam. Yes, its a hostel, don't expect anything luxurious, but great prices in an expensive city. Awesome vibe here! Cool, younger crowd from around the world. Pool tables in the lobby. Great staff. Great bar (probably the cheapest bar in Amsterdam). Smoke room in back. Stayed...

Been here once 3 years ago and i have to say I'm a different person visiting the pig this time and then realize it might not be so much of my thing anymore. More of the young travelers who prefer to drink more than smoking on the weekend nights and the smoking room became extremely loud. The location is super...

I have just recently returned from a short weekend in Amsterdam, in this Hostel. We was here as a group of friends for my friends 21st, so the hostel was ideal. It seems to be full of groups and young people, who are either travelling or there for a good time. There is a bar there which seems to have...

To be fair, this hostel was in an excellent location. Lots of shopping and food around and walking to uptown area is doable, maybe 30 minutes. The hostel itself is fairly clean. The facilities were basic. The rooms were spacious and having a room with an en-suite bathroom is much better. The reason I call it a frat house is...

I have been touring Europe and staying in hostels since the 1980's, so I have seen a lot. The Flying Pig Downtown is what every hostel should be. The place is ran by a young professional staff, mainly beautiful young women, which handled the reception and bar area. Travelers socialized in the bar and smoking rooms, sharing stories of where...

Had a great stay at the Flying Pig, it's nothing fancy but it's perfect for a weekend away with your friends, good service, really central location and got a great atmosphere. Also full of fun people to meet!

I stayed as part of a stag do in April this year. There was 12 of us, and we managed to get 3 rooms of 4 bunks, with shower and toilet in rooms. You pay for what you get, a basic stay, but the staff are very friendly, and the bar area is relaxed. I don't smoke but didn't find...

Good hostel to chill and meet other people. No complaints. Friendly staff. There's a cool chillout room at the back with pillows where you can smoke. So here's my funny story from the Flying Pig. Came downstairs had a smoke. Saw this British lady there having a smoke too. This was about 9am. Return at night after a day exploring...

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
