I stayed a week in this hostel (July 2013) with 4 of my friends - we shared a large clean room with a bathroom to ourselves. The rooms were cleaned daily and it was BY FAR the nicest hostel I'd stayed in across Europe. It was safe, with keycard access into the hostel and each room, with lockers under each... More

Stayed here with a group of 6 friends at the first stop of our euro tour. Great hostel right in the middle of all the action. Front desk was helpful in setting up nightlife and tour options for us. The hostel was full with a great crowd. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Location: Right in the middle of everything. A coffee shop right across the hostel. Check-in: Very quick and it was nice to see a smile at check in after a long flight. Service: The staff here were extremely friendly and helpful. I asked the guy at the front desk for an adaptor and he went through the lost and found... More

Stayed for 3 nights this August. Loved it completely. Great location in the city for the train station and all other attractions. Good prices at the bar and a comfortable bed. Staff were awesome and other guests were all friendly too. If they offered me a job I would take it in a heartbeat!

3 friends and I stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful and the atmosphere in the bar and smoking area is chilled and lively in the evenings. Breakfast was included in the price and although it was basic, it was good after a late night. The location was probably the best... More

Pros: near the train station, nice staff, cats!, kitchen and chill out areas, centrally located, bar. Cons: crowded, bathrooms were dirty, stoner vibe (might be a pro depending on what floats your bloat), dorm room had 20 beds, don't expect a good night sleep. This hostel is more for the party crowd.

This hostel was nicely located, right beside the dam square. They had a designated smoking room, decent bar prices, and offered an awful free breakfast in the morning. The rooms were extremely dirty and 90% of the hostel guests looked ill. It looked like the 3rd floor of the ICU of your local hospital. You could tell the front desk... More

I stayed for two nights with a friend in the dorms. Check-in was handled by super friendly staff members who were really lovely throughout the stay. Towels are available with a 2 euro deposit which was a good deal compared to other places I've stayed. Huge lockers provided in the rooms. Free earplugs available from reception. Lots of space to... It's a great hostel in the very center (dam square) of Amsterdam! The staff is very helpful and the bar is great! I've stayed 3 nights in a 32 people room, that is divested in 2 different parts with their own sink, so there's plenty of space for less money!

i stayed here with about 6 friends and it was such a great experience. i would highly recommend a group of young travelers staying there - probably not the place for older people. there was no one above 30 staying at this hostel.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
