From the moment we checked in, we were treated like royalty by the friendly, incredibly helpful staff. The room had every amenity that we could want, the breakfast service was spot-on and the concierge was among the most knowledgeable and helpful that we've encountered. This is a world class operation, and it is in a great location across the street...

This is perhaps one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed in. The design here is stunning & the amenities are next level. The hotel is a former music conservatory, hence the name, & the structure is still the same. As you walk through the hallway to your room you actually feel as if you're walking to your high school...

We did not stay at this hotel but was there for drinks and lunch. The hotel is well designed and makes you forget that you are actually in an old city. It is a mix of old and new with proper design furniture by Cassina and others. It's a proper five star hotel and if you are looking for that...

Amsterdam is one of those cities where it seems to be very hard to find a stylish hotel for a decent price (ie like New York). The Conservatorium was our 6th go at it! And it almost worked... It is a conversion of a music conservatorium plus some adjacent buildings with a glazed-over courtyard. The buildings have a beautiful architecture,...

The first thing to say is that this is a very good looking hotel. Everything has been designed to look good. Indeed, sometimes looks outweighed comfort. For example, the glass doors and panels in the bathrooms need some sort of marks on them to stop careless guests walking into them (!), and I had real concerns about our children and...

Stayed October 7-9, 2014. We had a museum package which gave us tickets to a museum of our choice and an afternoon tea. Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
