We stayed here during covid times around x mass. I am from Amsterdam myself and I be been in in the bar or restaurant before but never spend the night. We took a very large suite and it was above all expectations. We could negotiate a better price because there are little tourists. The room was amazing it had a seperate kitchen and we had a private dinner there which the restaurant brought upstairs. The interior was beautifully done beige tints , enough coffee & thea even a balcony. We could also park our car in the hotel. Loved it!
We travel to northern Europe in general and Amsterdam in particular twice a year. We love Amsterdam, for the Dutch people, the music, the art, the ballet and modern dance, even the food. After stays in Amsterdam's finest hotels, both on the canals and near the museums, we can say our five stays at the Conservatorium reveal it to be far the most interesting and, in our eyes, the best AMS hotel. The architecture is spectacular, the location ideal, especially if you are interested in the Concertgebouw or the Rijks. But, what makes this Museumplein hotel great are the people. Thoughtful, attentive, energetic, and gracious. They solve any minor problems rather than create them. With their treatment, service, and travel tips, they add to your formal or casual enjoyment of a fine city. A great world class hotel.…
Stayed in October with a family of 5. Reservation was a fantastic experience, supported beyond top notch by Giulia. Great facilitation, explanation, help in restaurant, pool and spa reservations upfront. Arrival good, efficient check in and good covid-19 measures. Stellar architecture. Some parts of the hotel feel dated (not intentional). Room supposedly upgraded, but a big disappointment. We came for the conservatorium suite, and were put in a short stay apartment. The room as appears rly not used for a while, considering dust layers and definitely not as clean as it could be. Super views. Music installation barely functioned. Tv remote gross and sticky, tv furniture was not cleaned in ages. Cables behind the slide-in tv furniture exposed and visible not very comforting. Then restaurant Taiko was a true disappointment. Rather boring and experimental food, blunt taste and small portion. Japanese fusion didn’t work out. Cocktails were very good. Overpriced, but as part of the culinary staycation it worked out. Then breakfast was great again, and clearly a highlight. Super friendly staff and service going out of their way to make the experience pleasant. Ladies at the spa also nothing but thumbs up, and the pool and facilities are amazing and well designed. Free minibar was in reality empty, and upon call and commitment to full was not done. Kids amenities were great, and our son still enjoys the little gift. So bottom-line, super experience but too many flaws prevent from being perfect (which actually should be expected at this price and name). …
I was SO looking forward to this babymoon but basically nothing about our trip was memorable. We booked a suite package including a Taiko 4-course dinner. Before arrival I emailed them to say that this was a trip to celebrate my pregnancy and to confirm a few points. Unfortunately they fell short. A list of what we were unhappy with: THE ROOM 1. I had read a lot about how nice the duplex suites are. But somehow we received an ‘upgrade’ to a second tier suite on one level, very dark and frankly underwhelming 2. The minibar was completely empty... why?? Also no tea at all. I saw no explanation about this, nor any COVID guidelines so can only assume they forgot to restock it. 3. There was no turndown service at all THE SERVICE 1. There was no acknowledgement / congratulations whatsoever about our celebration. For a 5* hotel this is really just hospitality 101... For comparison, we also stayed somewhere else - at more than half the price - which did mention it and gave us a nice box of macaroons and a card as a surprise. 2. We called for creamer / extra coffee for the room and it never showed up. 3. I followed up with our complaints in their customer survey after the stay, and they never contacted me about it. I ticked the box that they could contact me about it. 3. I was not impressed with our reception. No one offered to take our bags, no one explained why they were not showing us to our room (presumably COVID). In fact, they gave us the wrong directions to our room and we ended up lost getting to our room as it’s a bit of a maze... THE SPA 1. I had trouble finding it. An employee let me into the staff lift which sent me down to the offices part of the building. 2. I didn’t get the impression that the masseuse knew how to give a prenatal massage. She wanted me to lie flat (at 30 weeks!) for a good portion of it and I had to stop her... It also ended 5minutes early. 3. No one showed me around the spa when I first entered and as a result I didn’t find the jacuzzi / steam room until we asked on the second visit. 4. Overall, the spa was a bit dingy and depressing. Water wasn’t topped up, and even with covid, it felt crowded. I had been considering a membership here but wouldn’t do it after the visit. It’s just too small (a far cry from The Ned spa I visited regularly back in London — where you can stay for roughly the same price). THE RESTAURANT 1. This was the saddest part for me. We’d booked the package entirely based on the included 4-course meal and didn’t receive it. I’ve been craving a nice Japanese meal since getting pregnant. Instead, they seated us at the bar and didn’t allow us to order the meal — we had to go a la carte. I had asked them on email (twice) if we would be given the 4-course menu in the bar, the first time they ignored the question and the second time they didn’t reply at all. 2. They did offer us a credit amounting to the cost of the dinner, but neglected to tell us that the credit wouldn’t cover drinks. I had to argue about this at checkout and explain how disappointed we’d been not to get the chisana omakase meal in the first place (where we would’ve gladly spent more for drinks!) before they would comp the extra €15 - really? 3. I mentioned a peanut allergy in our booking but this was NEVER addressed at the meal. This is downright dangerous— they gave us wasabi peanuts with our drinks!!! There was one good thing — the breakfast was delicious. But this could have been enjoyed without a stay here. If you compare our stay to top tier hotels in places like London and Venice then there is absolutely NO comparison. But even compared to other top hotels in Amsterdam, I would not recommend this one. The Waldorf Astoria was much more pleasant. And at this price range, a luxury hotel should be ticking every single box.…
I literally cannot believe how amazing the staff were at this stunning hotel. We stayed for the weekend to celebrate a 21st Birthday (it was actually in December 2017 but I’ve been meaning to set up a Trip Advisor account and write this review for far too long!) and they went above and beyond all expectations to make our stay incredible. Before we arrived the hotel contacted us to ask if there was anything they could do to make our stay better and I mentioned that we would be celebrating a big birthday. They put in so much effort, from a room upgrade to personalised presents in the room on arrival (photos attached!!) We were amazed. I’ve never experienced such amazing customer service! Special thanks to Athaliah and Bente who went the extra mile with the birthday celebrations. The hotel is absolutely stunning, a perfect location for all the best sightseeing attractions in Amsterdam, the rooms are spacious and modern and the food excellent. I cannot fault one single thing. I just hope to return someday soon! Thank you so much!…
