A vast combination of well balanced design…a ying yang of old and new…The rooms are understated functional…simple clean lines and unfussy, but oh so comfy! The spa like bathroom is just precise…the attention to detail is so noted! The public spaces are a treat…a true masterstroke of modern design…If you want to feel sophisticated in this great city…this is by... More

This was an amazing find. Our first trip to Amsterdam, we were looking to stay at one of the boutique canal hotels. When we couldn't get in we were given the Conservatorium Hotel as a recommendation. We lucked out. You will see canals all day long. We didn't miss that at all. This was by far our favorite hotel now... More

The Conservatorium exceeded my expectation. Great venue at a great location near Museums, bars, restaurants and access to public transportation. The rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. The best part of the hotel was the staff who made my stay very special. Special thanks to Isabella who was always cordial, helpful and quick to point out hotel amenities and recommendations.... Had a business lunch at the terrace and as usual, service is excellent, food is great and the wines are sublime! The restaurant looks very nice as well and the atmosphere is really good for both private as business occasions. Special thanks to Ortal, our host for today. Will come back soon! The Conservatorium was just wonderful. We spent 3 night. They gave us a fantastic upgrade overlooking the museum across the street. The rooms are modern, perfectly clean, good showers, great bed, fantastic Nespresso in the room. Wow!! The architecture! Beautiful lobby and vibe. We really enjoyed just sitting and having coffee in the lounge. All the staff desk people, doormen... More

If I could, I would give this hotel 4 plus stars and the only reason I am not giving it five stars is because we were in a small room. However, the hotel is terrific. It has a great modern vibe. The sculptures in the lobby are terrific. I enjoyed the restaurant, both indoors and outdoors. The location is excellent,... More

This hotel is a combination of historic building (17th century), art nouveau renovation (early 20th century), and modern refitting. The whole place is gorgeous and beautifully designed. The bar has 50 kinds of gin and tonics!. The rooms are so modern that it takes a couple of days to figure out all of the features hidden by sophisticated design. The... More

For travellers who like to stay somewhere with local roots you can't go past the Conservatorium. Built from the former headquarters of the Dutch national bank, a historic building that later became a music school (hence the name), this is a luxurious urban retreat within minutes of the city and some of Amsterdam's most important museums. My loft style room... More

We had a fabulous time at the Lounge. The food was delicious and the service out of this world. Tim, our waiter was simply amazing. Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
