Outstanding in its own right as a sister hotel to the incredible Lutetia in Paris, the staff at this hotel is as good if not better than the Luretia, and most importantly... they "get it" in providing hospitality. By way of example, they were not seating anyone in the outside area due to lack of staff; however, when my group (as well as others who followed suit) sat outside bringing drinks and @finger food" from the inside, the next day they were outside serving hotel guests with aplomb. That tells me Management is watching, at the very least has a great line of communication with their staff. And, isn’t that what do you want any five star hotel? Appealing to and addressing the needs of their customers. A MUST go if you don't mind being away from the red light/historic district by a 25 minute walk. Modern in design paired with old world architecture.

Hotel's Favorite
After staying at the Andaz Amsterdam and W Amsterdam, we stayed 3 nights at the Conservatorium to correspond with our museum visits (Van Gogh, Moco, and Rijksmuseum). Wow, this hotel perfectly located right next to the museums - I can see a museum from our floor to ceiling windows. Our suite has breathtaking views, comfortable amenities and the service is top notch. Our suite was nicer and more roomier than both the Andaz and W. The W Amsterdam was the worst W I have been to (I wrote a separate review for W Amsterdam). The Andaz on the canal was charming and great for shopping and exploring central Amsterdam. However, the Conservatorium is top notch. Highly recommend staying here.

Now the pandemic is declared over, travel is picking up fast. Amsterdam remains a very popular destination and the Conservatorium Hotel is still the best option amongst all (5 star) hotels. Before Covid, this diamond hotel in the centre of Amsterdam, was already one of our top favourites hotels all over the world. Our recent trip, post-Covid, has proved once again why it is so amazing to stay here. The facilities are still top notch. Beautifully decorated rooms, extremely comfortable bedding, soft towels and bespoke amenities. Then the staff, who had to overcome the past years with a fully- or semi closed hotel, are still as pleasant and accommodating as ever. The front office team under the guidance of Max is extremely professional and kind. I could highlight all staff members, but to pick a few the credits go to Bas, Jean, Edwin, Khalid and Mohamed from the doorman and luggage porter team. They are there since the opening and even after a long time still remembered us. Other hero's in the lobby/reception are Etan, Steven, Lyanne and Tom, who took care of all our requests. During our stay, we had twice the opportunity to spend some time in their spa; Akasha. A great asset to the hotel with all facilities you want. Lastly a special mention for the Brasserie Restaurant. Challenges with staff shortages are happening all over the globe, so in Amsterdam. Unfortunately the hotel had to make the decision to close their Brasserie restaurant for dinner. Yet they still serve an extraordinary breakfast each morning. Under the management of Schilo and Gali, the team with senior players like Imade and Colette, do still an amazing job to get your day started the best possible way. With their orange juice, cappuccino and eggs Benedict you can definitely take on the day. So even after these horrible years, General Manager Mr. Tomassen makes the Conservatorium Hotel stand out from the crowd! Well done 👏🏼👏🏼

When the outside comes inside. This stunning building has been turned into a beautiful hotel. We were fortunate that despite arriving early (10am) our suite was ready, which started our stay so well. The room was lovely, split over two floors so you didn’t feel you were on top of yourself. An incredibly comfortable bed and features that were both modern but sympathetic to the old building. For us the location was perfect, not too long of a walk into the busier areas but peaceful when you came back to the hotel. We had breakfast one morning and it was plentiful and very tasty. The gym is excellent for a hotel gym and the pool area peaceful and relaxing. Service around the hotel was always friendly and welcoming. I can’t fault this hotel.

As the title already suggests we have frequently visited Lutetia in Paris. In contrast to the many ostentatious luxury hotels on the right bank, this old world charm hotel is understated with a certain kind of discretion and understated chique. The sister hotel in Amsterdam couldn't be more different. It's nouveau riche all over the place as it attracts a certain kind of flashy people that aren't staying at the hotel but are just hanging around. You see a lot of tattoos, flashy designer clothing and over the top watches here. Not the friendliest kind of people and very self absorbed. Therefore the place feels cold and uninviting. Management seemed to care more about the influencers than the (paying!) hotel guests. On a positive note we loved the hotelroom, architecture, location and spa a lot. It's all designed very intelligent and loved the originality of it. I would still rate the hotel 5 stars as they are top notch. The hotel has tremendous potential, hopefully they will change for the better.

The hotel Taiko Resturant is excellent Japanese cuisine. A must have compared to any other in Amsterdam. The atmosphere and service from Colette’s team of servers was super. Along with a great selection of wines! For a table for 2, ask for the table next to the window.

Absolutely outstanding hotel with the best service. This was definitely one of my all time favorite hotel experiences. Absolutely stunning, perfect location just outside of the touristy area of the city, near shops, park, restaurants, museums but easily walkable to everywhere. The concierge, Etan, was fantastic and hooked us up with all of the best restaurants, tours, tickets, etc. Loved our rooms! Spacious and luxurious and lots of closet space. The spa was amazing. Wonderful gym, massages, pool, and hot tub. The staff at the restaurant, front desk, etc. were friendly and helpful and we were thrilled with every last detail of this vacation.

A very original architecture .Warm welcome at the reception, staff always available and smiling. Splendid hotel. very comfortable rooms. The top. Only a surprising weakness for a hotel of this level of quality : the breakfast service. When there are many customers, it seems overwhelmed despite the kindness of the waitresses. And check your breakfast bills : they make errors they only admit with unpleasant suspicion…
