Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.

This place just let the guests feel like home. It is not only an architectural highlight - which is a perfect mix out of old and modern. Also the warm welcoming of the Conservatorium team makes the hotel to what it is. The cherry on the top is the amazing breakfast buffet, after which you never want to leave this hotel.

After a fantastic stay in April at sister hotel Hotel Cafe Royal in London we were excited to stay at the Conservatorium. What sets these hotels apart from others in my opinion is the level of customer service and the Conservatorium didn’t disappoint. The staff almost seemed like magicians as they had retained details from every interaction we had via email prior to stay and also notes that had been retained from our stay in London, even down to what Nespresso coffee we preferred. Upon arrival we were also treated to an upgrade to a Junior Suite which was spectacular and greatly appreciated. It is a perk, evidently, which comes from booking directly through the hotel. Steven, the manager who greeted us upon arrival was so attentive not just on arrival but throughout our entire stay always greeting us by name and asking us how we were getting on. He was exceptional. A few things happened during the stay which were disappointing but the staff dealt with each problem quickly and effectively meaning we could get back to enjoying ourselves. We enjoyed treatments at the Akasha spa and Jessica was a particular stand out member of staff who provided world class service and treatments. A truly magical experience. The pool area though in my opinion doesn’t have the cozy feel of the Akasha spa in London and the blue led strip lights, although striking to look at, make a dip in the jacuzzi feel sterile and cold rather than a warm relaxing experience. The food in the Brasserie at dinner was terrible but I am hoping I just had a bad, one off experience. What a fantastic four nights we spent in Amsterdam and we cannot wait to return. Thanks again to everyone for the fantastic service.
