Spent a week at this hotel - truly a fantastic experience. The hotel is perfectly situated for museum visits as it is right across from the Van Gogh museum. It is a beautiful hotel and the room are excellent. Staff is very friendly and extremely helpful - Sam the concierge did a great job with booking all of our dinners/tours... More

Quality service at its best. The staff can remember your name and answer the phone by a cheerful "Good morning Mr XXX! How can I help you?". Perfect English was spoken. Good manners. Genuine smiles. I felt like a King! Be specifically warned, however, that everything here (from the room to the food) is really rather expensive (by all standards)... More

The hotel decor and design is fantastic. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The concierge recommended and booked great restaurants and a private boat trip for us. The hotel restaurants are superb. And the breakfast which is included is delicious! The location great. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This is a difficult hotel to review. And it has been said before. The conversion architect (Italian I believe), took a strong stance for his vision and did not worry so much about functionality. We stayed in room 808, one of the suites. Husband didn't like it much, deploring the lack of a decent work / reading space, found it... More

We stayed at the Conservatorium for 2 nights. It's a bit higher priced than most of the hotels in Amsterdam but is very luxurious. The food in the hotel is also pricey but delicious. It's away from the canals and the noisyness (which is nice if you are looking for a good night sleep.).

My wife and I had an amazing few days at the Conservatorium. It's a unique place in a great location with staff that would do anything to make the stay more enjoyable. A joyful experience! The rooms are well equipped and the restaurants from breakfast to dinner were of an exceptional standard! I'd highly recommend it.

Stayed at the Conservatorium Hotel for two nights last week. Prior to booking we looked at a number of hotels in Amsterdam, choosing the Conservatorium as it looked a bit different and less traditional. Having stayed at luxury hotels all over the world I must say this is up there with the best. The service from all staff was consistently... More

We all like or dislike places for specific reasons that may not matter to everyone, so let me explain what there is to like -- and dislike -- here. In brief, a nice overpriced tourist hotel in a great location with expensive, tiny rooms and very poor for business people with needs other than meetings. The Good: Excellent location, walking... Loved our stay in room 403, on the quiet side of the building. The bathtub was exceptional as was the bed. Could have spent the day in it. The lobby, breakfast area, bar, and gym all exceptional. Bring your swimsuit! Breakfast was really super with juices, smoothies, tropical fruits, organic yogurts, smoked salmon, etc Nothing ordinary about it. We will... More

This is a grand hotel but unpretentious. It looks like a castle that is very modern on the inside. The courtyard has cleverly been covered in glass to create a conservatory (that gives the hotel its name I guess) that encompasses the lobby and restaurant. Being flooded with light, the lobby is a delightful place to work/read/socialize/have an aperitif or... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
