We stayed in an 18 bed dorm, as a group of five female travellers, for three nights. The dorm was very basic and a little dated in decor, considering the price we paid, however it was clean and provided a charging slot for every bed and a big enough locker to put all of the group's valuables. The WiFi did... More

Don't stay here! Just don't. Rather go anywhere else but Hostel Meeting Point. Horrible beds, horrible service, horrible showers. Also location isn't that good. The hostel bar and the entire hostel itself is far from clean. There is no comfortable place to sit or lie down.

6 nights of this friendly hostel and sad to say goodbye. The rooms are very clean along with the bathrooms, wifi works downstairs but there is no kitchen. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly. It's 10 minuets from the square and roughly 5 from the train station. Highly recommend this lovely hostel. Amazing breakfast too!

Stayed here for 3 nights and really liked it. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of things and only a 5 minute walk from the red light district. The staff were great, very helpful and friendly, particularly Ferri! Rooms are quite basic but adequate. There are lockers in the rooms which only cost 2 euros for your entire... More

Very basic but very cheap. Great location right beside the train station and the red light district. The staff are all extremely lovely and helpful. They serve really cheap lunches and breakfast which are also delicious. Myself and three other girls stayed and we would highly recommend it.

This was my first hostel experience and it turned out to be a great one. It was very reasonably priced per person and we were able to get lockers for a small fee (which you get back when you check out). They were large enough to fit two backpacks in! There were charging stations in the room and wifi access.... More

Decent place can't beat the location but it can be loud with the windows open. Ferry is a nice guy and can answer most questions you throw at him. I would recommend this place as long as you have a pair of earplugs. The views of the canal are great worth the 4 flights of stairs to room 81.

I booked this last minute and hoped for the best. I found there was nothing to worry about, it wasn't dirty or noisy. Fine just to catch a few hours sleep during a stop over before a flight, but I wouldn't want to stay here more than one night. The only thing that was a hindrance at this hostel was... More

Having only previously.stayed in UK Youth Hostels (Yha) I wondered what a European one would be like, given That ones tend to be quite nice! Visited for three nights. Stayed in what was a 12 bed dorm. It was a little hard to find at first - we couldn't see the hotel that was listed in the instructions. But once... More

The hostel we first booked was horrible so we had to leave. We had no where to go so we literally turned up at Meeting Point, they were the last hostel we went to which we could book beds last minute. It's great value for money, you pretty much get what you pay for. There were many beds in one... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
