My wife and I went back to the Bulldog this year for NYE party, and took our best friends with us this time. Once again we had booked the room 402, long in advance just to be sure. Best room in the hotel, nice view on the fireworks and the steet action. Nice to see the terasse on rooftop was...

Absolutely loved The Bulldog! 8 of us stayed there one Summer and really enjoyed it. The rooms were big enough to fit us all in, only think I didn't like was the shared shower and toilet! Able to drink and smoke in the bar area, in some places in Amstedam you can't. Good simple food, and happy hour. Also a...

I stayed from the 23rd-27th this month with my GF in one of the private rooms. Staff were cool, although not necessarily overly friendly, but thats fine. The location is terrific, I would always take a walk late at night, even if things were closed. WiFi works great, which is ideal for travelers. The lounge has a good vibe and...

We stayed in the Bulldog Hotel apartments in November for my partners 40th , she was given a night free , which was a lovely touch. Reception staff are brilliant and so friendly and whilst we had use of the hotel facilities the rooms are about 100 metres away next to Bulldog Mack, which isnt a problem . In fact...

We stayed at the Bulldog for two nights. It was my Bday so I did not pay for one night - present from Bulldog. The staff is great, Location could not be better. They have coffeshop near reception. Bar is also there. This is the essence of Amsterdam.

Bulldog is in a great spot, next to red light district and in walking distance from a tram and train station to anywhere you could think of. Staff are helpful. Rooms are clean. As a girl, I stayed in an all girls (8) for two nights and was very impressed however I was moved to a mixed dorm (12) which...

Very nice to hear that you had a good time with us. We feel bad that you didn't enjoy the mixed dorm as much though. Guests are always welcome to ask at the reception if they are not satisfied with their room and we will do our best to find an alternate arrangement. Thanks for staying with us :)

Cheap, clean and cheerful and very nice staff , central location and easy access to all areas around the centre of amsterdam . Only real complaint was the window was locked so no fresh air, and if there was a fire in the corridor outside the room , well you smash the window i guess , cant imagine this is...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
