The Bulldog had a great location and atmosphere with clean and retro bedrooms and ensuite. The lounge and bar is relaxing and has great bar staff! Breakfast is a little limited but of good standard. Overall i thoroughly enjoued my stay and would recommend it as its great value for money.

Great budget hotel, central for everywhere in central amsterdam. Fabulous cafe bar, live music . Great to get the feel for the real atmosphere we had a good room for 3. There was a pulldown bed that was hilarious . Clean and comfortable accomodation n vending machines with food for late night munchies.

Pretty much perfect all round. Room a little small. Noticed other triples were bigger so maybe just bad luck. Lounge n cafe n hotel great all round. Recommend to anyone. Great vibe In hotel lounge. Great menu for weed and prices were fair all round too. Be looking to stay there every time I visit the city

The bulldog was a easy 5-10 minute walk from the centraal station, its in the perfect central area of amsterdam. staff where very heplful, cafe downstairs was convenient and close to the red light district but not too close... downfalls was no power points on each better, just randomly scattered throughout the room..also shower was either burning hot or cold....

Thank you for the feedback. Our housekeeping team is checking to make sure the water temperatures are ok for everyone. Our apologies of this caused you any difficulty. We are really happy to read that it did not have too big an impact on your stay and that the staff and bar were to your liking. No need to thank...

This was my first time staying in a hostel and I was very worried. To my surprise the bulldog hotel was very clean and organized. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 12 bed room and it was not bad at all with two bathrooms and lockers it was very comfortable. So were the beds!! The...

What a nice review! Thanks. We often get guests who are staying in a hostel for the first time. it can be a little nerve racking if you don't know what to expect. But, like most guests, they quickly discover that there are lots of like minded people around and that the dorms are safe and comfortable. Once that initial...

Upon arrival we had a good 6 hour wait before check in. They have a restaurant bar area where you can get a coffee or beer and the coffee shop is just next door so you can easily find something to pass the time.. It's located just off the red light district with everything in walking distance. I'd recommend getting...

The early arrival! Our apologies that you had to wait so long for your room. We always do our best to get the rooms prepared as early as possible and our Housekeeping team is great about cleaning the early arrival rooms first. However, sometimes it is not possible for immediate check in and we appreciate that you were so patient....

Perfect location - easy to get to from the airport and very close to everything you'll need. Transport links very close for visits to slightly further away attractions. Apartments (not really 'hostel' accommodation) were clean and well furnished with bedding, towels and complimentary toiletries (at a fairly costly price - €56 per night) Hotel security was of a high standard...

This was our 4th or 5th stay in The Bulldog, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Amsterdam after staying here. The location is perfect and it has everything we need....delicious burgers and amazing hot chocolates were a bonus!! We have stayed in dorms, hotel rooms (deluxe with canal view) and the apartments all were great value for money. Roof top...

Forgot to write a review back from when I stayed in April 2014. Was my first time in Amsterdam and couldn't have picked a better place. Stayed with 3 friends in a shared 6 person dorm. Didn't spend much time in the room other than sleeping, comfy beds and decent sized bathroom, good shower. Downstairs smoking lounge was perfect, nice...

Very central and lively hostel. Rooms were basic but clean. Bar and facilities were good for a budget hotel. The location is central so ideal for a weekend. Easy to find from the station. Check in staff were helpful and polite.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
