The Bulldog Hotel was perfect, we stayed in a triple room, there was plenty of space and it was clean. The beds were really comfortable, even the pullout. The bathroom was big too, more of a wet room and the sink was in the shower, but all good! Obviously an amazing location as well right in the Red Light District.... More

Stayed here for 5 days with friends recently and loved it!! Staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Location is amazing, down the road from Dam Square and Red Light District so perfect if you want to sightsee or chill in the cafes/ bars. Only slightly annoying thing was that the drinks in the bar within... More

It was my second time staying in the Bulldog hotel, I have now experienced both the suites and the private rooms, which are both amazing, the staff are very friendly, and always happy to help! I will definitely be staying there again!

Overall, the hostel was the perfect place for us. The location couldn't have been better as its right in the centre, and the whole place was very clean, tidy and precise on how they did things. There's a terrace on the fourth floor which is perfect for chilling at, and also spacious rooms with en suite and good security on... More

Although I did stay here, I met friends that did and they enjoyed it. It has a cool bar to hangout and chill in. It a calm place. If you want to relax, kick back and smoke a j this is a good place. Beer is a fair price, chicken wings are tasty and also cheap.

Very much paying for the name when it comes to staying at this hostel/ hotel. Found it not very good value for money when compared to other hostels that we visited. However, it is in a very good location in the red light district of Amsterdam. There is lots going on. It also has the coffee shop attached.

If you are looking for a relaxed and quiet hotels then this isn't it. It is perfect for what I need in Amsterdam, a base that can also double as somewhere to unwind. Breakfast is fine, rooms are fine, staff down to the doorman are always in a good mood and want to help. Best part if ;like me sometimes... More

Despite the fact that we were in a ten-bed dorm, we didn't have any trouble sleeping. No noise from outside, good beds. The bar downstairs is pretty cool. And the free breakfast is full of choices! Overall it was a really good stay.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
