Had yet another great visit with cycle group. Well accommodating for cyclists. Reception staff awesome and friendly. Breakfast staff rude and unfriendly. Breakfast to pricey but we paid anyway to eat on our bike trip that day to be told we couldn’t WHY ? And no notice to tell us. 8 X breakfasts is not cheap if the individual cannot choose when he/she wants to eat it. Only blip on otherwise great visit. Boat trip staff also awesome and we had a great trip.
I booked a double room which was basic but comfortable and clean. Its located in the Red Light district and is walking distance to Dam Square, Central Station, Chinatown and the main shopping area. The staff were friendly and helpful. The majority of guests were youngsters on a holiday but the atmosphere was good and for a short break I would recommend it.
If you want to be comfortable this is the place to stay staff are friendly and will go out there way for you and if your a smoker this is the only place to stay you can smoke in the bar and roof terrace I've stayed here 12 times now and about to stay again this October great location everything is close brilliant place
It's horrible i also noticed they thread peploe with color differently at night times food bad paying 50 cents per toilet visit while i spent alot horrible smell bad food horrible i wouldent reccomend
Lovely staff. It was a shame to see they were under high pressure by a visibly upset manager who was harassing them into do things too fast while moaning about them. It created a really bad atmosphere and you could tell by being 1 second in reception. The manager should rethink his way of managing a group. They all seemed on edge because of him. Specially nice the Spanish lady in the front desk. Top location.
Would not recommend this hotel, the mattresses were stained and the towels had brown stains on them. Hotel very tired and dated looking. On plus going for it was the location. It was not value for money
I have stayed in The Bulldog before (around 2006) and was glad to see it hasn't changed at all. I booked a twin private room at a rate of €125 a night, which is really good value. They do also offer dorm rooms for a much cheaper rate. The private room was small and basic, but clean and comfortable and perfect for the amount of time actually spent in there, and we were also provided with towels. The location is right by the Red Light District, so there is plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, and is in close proximity to Dam Square and tram stops. The hotel has a loungebar open late and a smoking terrace on the roof. Staff are really friendly and super helpful and there is an overall friendly vibe about the place.
Another great stay at The Bulldog, room clean, staff outstanding, for the price you pay it is exceptional, location perfect. Twin room, hot powerful shower, beds small but comfortable, will be back!!!!!
Hotel room was basic but what you are paying it is absolutely fine. However, the staff were absolutely incredible, I’ve never met such staff that would go completely out of their way to help you out, lovely people and very helpful. Very central location with both shop and cafe on the same street. staff went over and above to help us out with cleaning of a jacket after let’s say a “trippy” night. Also organised a perfect Valentine’s Day surprise for my girlfriend upon arrival. Huge shout out to Daphne at reception who couldn’t have helped us out anymore and made the stay a great memory. Will 100% be back, only wish we could take the staff along to other hotels with us.
Dirty, noisy, near the red light district. If you do not like to party then stay far away from this hostel. The rooms are filthy not due to the staff as they do clean but the guests—they are all animals there to drain every ounce of nutrients from their body in order to fill it with depravity and excess. The downstairs has a pub that absolutely pumps repetitive electronic music—coming from Canada this made zero sense. Clubs are for that kind of music not wood panels and brass taps.. but you are allowed to enjoy the herbal delicacies while drinking which is nice. There is a coffeeshop next door where you can purchase the stuff. It is directly across from the red light district. I paid $65 for a bed in a 12 person dorm on Halloween—complete robbery so therefore I would never return. Although the staff was the most friendly and accepting in all of the Netherlands. The room was a cesspool—ensuite shower is open and just sprays all over the floor. The washroom is not big enough for a full grown man, let alone 12. The beds squeak with any movement. The lockers were large enough to fit both my backpack and mini suitcase so at least the security was not an issue. 3/5 is generous…
