Brilliant hotel in a quiet neighbourhood not far from a metro stop and within walking distance of main attractions, great room overlooking the canal with a terrace, couldn't ask for more, will be back!

I stayed here for two nights in July with my friend and we were both very pleasantly surprised by this. We had booked a room which, we were warned, had only a skylight, so we worried that it would be a bit dark and cramped. Happily, the room was of course, a little dark, but the skylight was easily controlled... More

Arrived earlier than expected and the lady on reception was very helpful and changed our room to reception level due to an injured foot. The room was a good size with a nice view of canal and clean. No tea making facilities ,there is a room next to reception that has tables but the staff make the tea or coffee... More

We stayed here late June for two nights in the lovely Amstel region of Amsterdam. Having been to Amsterdam on two other occassions over many years i wanted to be in a nice location but close to the centre. After reading other reviews we decided upon The bridge hotel. What a great choice. Located overlooking Binneamstel ,a large canal and... More

Now that I've seen first hand other hotels in Amsterdam and lodged at The Bridge Hotel, I would opt to lodge at a different location. Why? Pros: The hotel is in a prime location with a great view of the Amstel River. Very large, clean room with comfortable beds. Large and very clean breakfast room that is well organized. The... More

Nice and close to the city centre without the noise. Close to the laundromat and a choice of restaurants. Breakfast was pleasant. Our wifi worked well. Annoying things... No soap to wash your hands; the beds were on wheels so when you were sitting up in bed, they slid out from under you; the towels were tiny.

The location could not have been better: on the Amstel, near three bridges and the locks, quiet tree-lined street and close to the tram lines, opera house, and the restaurant district. The staff is congenial and takes care of guests well. The Dutch breakfast is wonderful! Their coffee is smooth, rich and strong -- a coffee lover's dream. I loved... More

This lovely hotel is simply marvellous as it is conveniently located on the Amstel river and near to the local attractions. The room balcony overlooks the river and is great for watching passersby on cycles, walking or on the river. The room was clean and we'll serviced. Staff were efficient, friendly and attentive. Excellent en suite shower and toilet. Rooms... More

I've stayed here many times, but not for several years so am pleased to report standards are still high. The staff are very efficient and knowledgeable, the hotel is immaculately clean and the breakfast is generous. This is not a soulless chain hotel, but one of the few privately owned hotels in Amsterdam with an A1 location next to the... More

My three friends and I were for my hen weekend. We were in room 102 which is on the reception level. Nice big room, very comfy beds and very clean. Breakfast was good, meats and cheeses but good variety too. Our room had a nice view over the Amstel river and not far from Skinny Bridge. Good bars and restaurants... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
