My second stay here in a few years. On tram 9 fifteen minutes to the Plantage Kerklaan stop from CS. This is a wonderful Amsterdam neighborhood with corner bar Cafe Koosjes, very good restaurants, lots of streetlife near entrance to the zoo. For history buffs, hotel is across the street from the Holland Theatre, the historic Jewish theatre until it... More

Great location and wonderful staff but don't stay in the family room!! It faces the main street and it was so loud. Tram stops right out front, which is great during the day but not at 6 am. Plus 2 out of the 3 nights that we were there we were awakened by loud people. When I say loud I... More

i stayed here with quite a few people and i dont think any of us had any problems with this place, was nice enough - really steep staircases but i think that is quite common in amsterdam. breakfast area was nice. the hotel was clean and well kept. we only had to go a few yards down the road to... The night from the 7th till the 8th of november I stayed in this hotel. I needed some quality time to spend with one of my 3 sons. My first impression that I got when I came in , was a warm welcome. The lobby made me think of a living room where you want to come home to. Home,... More

Me and my husband visited this hotel and absolutely loved it. We were here for our 5 year anniversary and we got a complimentary bottle of wine! When the room wasn't ready at our arrival we could leave our luggage at the reception and we got espresso. The prices are good considering you are in the center of the city... More

If you are in Amsterdam for business dont stay here. this is not a business hotel with printer, elevator and the normal standards. it looks like is a low budget hotel but is actually quite expensive for what it is. the hotel does a great job with pictures from the rooms on their website and you get a feel that... I have just come back from a stay at this lovely hotel, i was a bit dubious but am so glad that i went for the small , family run hotel instead of a big chain , it added to the amsterdam experience....The staff are really friendly and give you lots of useful tourist info and nothing is too much... I have just returned from this hotel and had a great stay. Cannot understand the previous review re smoking as this is a non smoking hotel and they definitley do not allow it! We had a huge room which was very clean. Towels changed every day. Mini bar was very reasonable prices. Trams stop outside the hotel . We bought... More

Clean, excellent location, spacious room. But big problem--we are not smlkers. Guests and employees hung out in the library/fromt sitting room constantly smoking. Drifted up the stairs. Our room, the hallway, downstairs, everywhere reeked thickly from the smoke. Drove us crazy! My kids were constantly coughing. Also, about the breakfast: The breakfast room was really very cool. But the spread... More

Good breakfasts. Comfortable rooms with television, plenty of hot water, a grand room for Breakfast. Very close to the city center and right along the metro line. Getting to and from the main station is less than ten minutes with the streetcar.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
