Lovely hotel, very nice decoration. The location is perfect, next to the museums square, and 15min by tram far from the shopping area. The room was super cozy, and it had a lot of storage space. When we checked in, the room was very cold, so it took several hours to heat it up. The bathroom was tiny, but enough...

Lovely hotel with fab decor throughout! We were on the 4th floor, the room was small but great big comfy bed and good size bathroom. The only bad thing was the plug sockets....could only use one/two at a push!! The stairs at the entrance of the hotel and inside are very very steep so anyone with knee problems or similar...

The room although small was perfect, extremely warm and cosy, very modern and clean. The...

I wish I could recommend this hotel with all my heart - great location, cool/quirky design, easy atmosphere, nice staff and great complementary breakfast - but I cannot ignore the basic heating factor, or to be more precise - the lack of it! The heating was insufficient for the cold November nights, and I had to put my coat on...

Amsterdam is most famous for its old type houses (besides the rest of the entertainment of course :) ). So it is not very easy to find a good place to stay. Max Brown is the place to stay. It is in the hearth of museum quarter, with one bus you can reach to the hotel from the airport, 2min....

Me, my mrs and my friend came here for my birthday. Bus from the airport stops more or less right outside the hotel and the tram stop to get to dam square is in the same place. Easy to find. Friendly staff, really helpful. Nice little bar downstairs and lots of quirky pictures and features around the hotel, (which is...

I stayed at Max Brown Hotel only one nighy - but It was perfect - starts with the sweet "reception" - coffee-shop, continues with the simple but smart room and the "Fresh Shampoo for Fresh Thinkers" and finally the warm hospitalityof the sataff and the perfect location - 5 minutes from the museums - what could be better?

The hotel is located on a quiet street yet just around the corner from Rijksmuseum and half a block away from bus and tram stops and the Fashion District. I took bus 197 from the airport straight to the hotel and only had to walk for half a block. The room was small but I enjoyed being in it anyway....

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
