Positives: friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Unique boutique design in the hotel and rooms. Wifi was good. Location was great. Quiet area with plenty of stores in the next block and more nearby within walking distance. Needs improvement: Room was cold and it could use a heater. Stayed for 1 week in beginning Feb and the breakfast was the same everyday....

Stayed here in December. It is a lovely hotel the decor is really nice! It is like a boutique feel hotel. Very Amsterdam. The location is good it is in the museum quarter, about a 20/30 min walk into central. There are trams close by as well. The only issue we had was that the breakfast area got very busy...

We wanted somewhere in a quiet location but with an easy hop on the tram to all the main places of interest, Museum Square was the perfect choice. In hindsight we should have booked a larger room or a suite as the standard room was small, having visited Amsterdam several times before we expected this (and the steep stairs) but...

We stayed at the Max Brown for three nights and on first impressions loved the look of the hotel. As in a lot of places in Amsterdam, the steps at the front of the building are quite steep, so this would not be ideal for anybody with mobility issues. Its a beautiful old building and also has steep steps up...

We stayed for 3 nights. The first room we were in was a small double and it's tiny. We could have dealt with that, although not too comfortably however it was on the ground floor next to reception and was very noisy during the night so didn't get any sleep. We asked to be upgraded to a large double which...

We recently stayed at Max Brown Hotel Museum Square and we were more than happy with our visit.... First of all, yes- the rooms are small and the stairs are steep as noted in other reviews but this adds to its charm. A lovely stylish hotel with super friendly and helpful staff in a superb location. A quiet side street...

This is a lovely hotel, the staff are the most friendly I have come across, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast they lay on is amazing, so much choice, my room was ideal for me, very clean and well maintained, I intend to re-book again and hopefully persuade a friend to come with me, absolutely brilliant with an ideal...

I know most of the hotels in amsterdam have small rooms, and Max Brown fits in this profile, but even so the hotel is a delight! Very comfortable, practical, great location and breakfast, and everything very clean. Compliments to the bed linen and towels, all white and very clean! Congratulations! We'll be back!

My husband and I stayed here in September 2016. The hotel was lovely and so was the room however it was very small. When we stayed it was extremely warm and there was no a.c. A fan was provided but was pointless as it just blew hot air at us, which made it really uncomfortable. Breakfast was basic but nice....

Dear pmcb1, Thank you for your review. Our rooms listed as small are indeed small. Maybe a larger room type was better suited for your needs. We choose not to have air-conditioning in our hotel. Just because in a year the temperature only rises for two months in Amsterdam. I due would like to apologise for the fact that you...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
