There are plenty enough of better budget hostels in Amsterdam not to recommend this one. The entrance underneath the ground looks like a teenager's playground, decorated with notes and drawings, loud music, and people smoking. Not bad, but i've seen way better, quieter and cleaner hostel. The check-in time is strictly at 14pm. No matter if they have a bed...

Arrived at 8pm on weeknight. Main hall was like a bar on weekends: packed, pot-smokeing (good in my book), all seats taken. There was no place to sit down and gather my luggage. No hot water in the showers, only freezing cold water. Front desk closes at 10:30pm and opens at 8am... so if you're leaving early, you'd have to...

I booked 'bob's suite' which is anything but luxury which is how they described it. they said it had private bathroom, seperate bedroom with 4 beds and a kitchen area....... the bathroom was ridiciously dirty considering it was private and there was only enough hot water for one person!. nothing in the kitchen area worked (shabby wardrobe with sink and...

We had a private 4 person dorm which had 1 double bed, 1 single bed and 2 sofa. The kitchenette didn't work, or...

Myself and a friend visited Amsterdam for a long weekend (3 nights). Bob's was quite easy to find and it is very close to Amsterdam Centraal station (10mins walk) and around 5 minutes walk from Dam Square - an ideal location really for those who want to see the main sights in the centre of the city. It is also...

Bob's feels kind of like you are staying in an opium den. I originally picked it because I thought it would be a good place to meet friends.... but everyone seemed to be stoned the whole time so it wasn't an ideal plaace to start a conversation. The location is great, but the staff is really unfriendly. When I checked...

A great place to stay if your main intention is smoking and meeting new people. Not exactly Hilton standards, but for that price and its great location, one can hardly do better. We would recommend this place and when we head back to Amsterdam, we'll definitely stay here again.

Despite both the decorum and the website conveying a view of easy-going and relaxed, the manner of business still underlies the feeling of this hostel. You will find some exciting people here, those who spontaneously came to Amsterdam and are young and almost definitely into drugs. But if your view is to meet more of these people, simply head to...

Even tho this might seem to be a shabby hostel, this place contains so much atmosphere, spirit and love you can't imagine. This is the place for you as a young backpacker. Yes, the place is not modern and refurbished and it does smell of weed. But it is the COOLEST hostel in europe.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
