We had a very small and basic room on the top floor of the hotel. Steep and narrow stairs took us there, so if you have difficulty to claim stairs, ask lower floor. Bedlinen was dirty when we arrived, so asked new ones from reception and changed them myself. Mattress was not comfortable. Breakfast was ok. View was nice towards... More

The location of this hotel is fantastic! Just two blocks from the main tram line from the train station, and right around the corner from Spui, which has a lot of great restaurant/cafe options. It was very easy to get around Amsterdam from this location, and the staff were very helpful with directions and advice. While the location was great,... More

Just want to say how brilliant this hotel is. It is very traditional, the hotel has so many original features that just makes it so homely. Many have commented on the decor - for the price you pay, it's what you get, it isn't horrible nor dirty, just simply standard. The staff are absolutely amazing and all have the time... More

We had a small double room and enjoyed our stay at this b&b. The location was outstanding! One day we rented the hotel bikes and rode them around town; a super fun experience. Our room had a canal view which was really pretty each morning. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The staff was wonderful and friendly, and provided us with... More

We too stayed at this hotel based on Rick Steves recommendation and felt it was overpriced for the value received. The front desk ladies were very accommodating. The stairs are extremely narrow and as steep as a ladder (tough with large suitcases), the bed was well worn out and covered with a thin sheet. Continental breakfast was adequate and bathroom... When you only have 1 night in Amsterdam and are not interested in sleeping that much this centrally located hotel is all you need, especially as a solo traveler. The greeting at the reception was friendly and in English. The room was TINY but clean. My room was on the first floor and you could hear noise from the street... More

From arrival nothing was too much trouble. We were happy to be given room 7 which provided a wonderful view of the canal. The staff were brilliant: informative, helpful and accommodating. The hotel is literally a 5 - 10 minute walk from everywhere in the centre of Amsterdam including the train station. The rooms are compact but they are clean,... More

We stayed 3 nights and I'd highly recommend this hotel. Yes it could use some tlc and modernisation inside but it's clean, in an ideal location, with friendly and helpful staff, sufficient breakfast supplied and has everything you need for a short break. The price which may seem high I'd say is relative to the location and if it was... More

Stayed here at the end of May. Lovely hotel, as in staff, and views from room ! Was a clean hotel, but a bit on the small side, as was the bathroom. However if you want a hotel that is really close to everything, only a ten min walk from central station and is clean with staff who are friendly... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our small hotel is situated in a beautiful canal-house that is over 300 years old, nestled on the quiet, picturesque Singel, the oldest of the four major ring canals in Amsterdam's famed inner city. Our cosy hotel offers an oasis right in the centre of town. The hustle and bustle of the shopping streets around Dam Square, the charm of the myriad canals lined with 17th-century houses and world famous sights, such as the Anne Frank House, are all literally steps away. There are also convenient trams and other public transport options to whisk you off to all of the city's many attractions. Room information: the hotel offers 13 double and single rooms and one triple room. We serve a good continental breakfast-buffet in our light and pleasant breakfast room. Rooms are ready for check in at 14.00 o'clock. If you arrive earlier we can store your luggage until then. We look forward to have you as our guests! ... more   less
