Our seventeenth century canal-house is located on the picturesque Keizersgracht in the historic heart of Amsterdam. The house was built in 1672.And is a registered monument with original features as the spiral staircase, exposed beams, monumental outside steps and original fireplaces Between 1906 and 1920 the house was frequently visited by members of the Dutch Royal family, among which our Queen,Juliana who used to play here when she was a little girl. Our hotel has free WIFI in all rooms Behind the hotel you will find our peaceful backyard with an abundance of flowers where, weather permitting, we serve you an excellent Dutch breakfast.

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Ernest and Mary went above and beyond to make our stay special, starting with a cup of hot tea at our arrival and ending with help (and moral support) with getting a rental car for the rest of our travels in the Netherlands. They seemed genuinely glad to settle down for a lengthy conversation with my octogenarian father-in-law a couple of times during our short stay...I so appreciate their graciousness! Breakfast was delicious; fresh fruit, warm fresh bread, and an awesome omelet were my favorites. When Ernest learned that we were going to visit our ancestral province, he made a point to serve cheese from that province for breakfast the next day. Another example of thoughtful service. Our rooms were comfortable with beautiful views of the garden or canal. We loved being in the heart of Amsterdam within easy walking distance of so many places. Staying here was one of the highlights of our travels!

Amazing 17th Century building with spiral staircase to rooms on 3rd and 4th floors (no lift, so glad we were travelling light). Large room, with en-suite bathroom (not all rooms are en-suite). Ernest and Mary were so friendly and helpful, giving us great suggestions of places to visit and best ways to travel around. Excellent location, 5-10 mins walk to Museum Quarter, 15-20 mins to Dam Square. Fabulous breakfast and lots of restaurants within 5 mins walk for evening meals.

Excellent B&B in a typical Amsterdam building on the beautiful Keisergracht canal. The neighbourhood is upmarket and quiet. The Keizerhof is close to the metro (handy if you are using the Park & Ride at RAI, or arriving by train at the Central Station) and is within walking distance of the major tourist attactions. The welcome is warm, the rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and breakfast is great - Ernest makes the best omelettes & pancakes! In the summer you can enjoy the huge garden at the back of the building. The value for money is excellent for Amsterdam. As this is an historic building it has a narrow staircase and some of the rooms are on the 3rd / 4th floors, so beware if you have lots or luggage or have difficulty climbing stairs.
