As this was our first time visiting Amsterdam we wanted a hotel which we could walk to most places. We settled on Hotel Aalders. The hotel is in a central location, south of the city. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh and the tram stop which gives you access to everywhere in the city... More

This is a small boutique hotel located in the museum district. Pros: - location: 1 block from Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum, Museumplein, and from some of the most exclusive shopping ever; 2 blocks from the canal boats, Vondelpark, Concertgebouw. - includes breakfast. This is NOT an American breakfast, but is a very nice dutch breakfast including cheeses, ham,... More

The location is excellent. Easily accessible from the train station. Just a few stops down the tram line. Located in the beautiful museum district in the middle of town. The hotel staff is friendly, the rooms are comfortable, clean, and have all the amenities a traveler needs. The breakfast spread is awesome, too!

Very small guest room, however cozy.... had a door to the garden, so this was pretty nice! The best prize is the location, realy prime!!!!!!!! next door neighbors are the best art attractions of Amsterdam!!!!!!!!!! Breakfast was top class as well, in a cozy and classy environment. Would go back at once, if possible.........

The location of the hotel is fantastic and very close to the museums and Vondelpark. As a family of 3 we booked a triple room for 3 nights that worked well for us. The breakfast was a welcome treat each morning with plenty of options. The front desk was always open and provided suggestions on activities, restaurants and other attractions.... More

We stayed for two nights at this hotel, and found it very convenient to the museums and close to trams and buses for easy access to other parts of the city. The staff were very helpful and although we booked a very small room, it really wasn't that small. The bathroom was a little tight, but adequate. Breakfast was served... More

This was a perfect location for me to walk safely to the Van Gogh museum -2 minutes away, and the Rijksmuseum- 5 minutes walk away and the Concertegebouw- 10 mins in foot. My room was a perfect size for one person with a comfortable double bed, TV, spotlessly clean ensuite. There was no air conditioning but there was a small... More

This is a well-appointed, clan, comfy hotel ideally located near the museums but in a cozy side street that is super quiet. It is charming and old world while also being quite modern in its amenities. Free breakfast is large and tasty. The staff were very helpful, though some of the women a bit too "direct" and forceful for my... More

Stayed here with my 2 grand-daughters and niece in a 2 x double bed room on the ground floor with doors leading out to the garden area. The location was EXCELLENT - only 5 minutes walk to the Rijksmuseum, Moco museum, main bus lines, canal cruises, shops and restaurants. If you're not planning to stay in the hotel much, then... This small hotel is overpriced and overrated. While it does have a great location and friendly staff members, the tiny little room makes my family not wanting to go back to the hotel until the bedtime. The room looked old with cheap furniture, and the very basic bathroom didn't even have a counter top for us to put anything. The... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
