I am so glad my family and I chose the Hotel Fita for our short stay in Amsterdam. The hotel is located right near the Van Gogh and Modern Arts Museums, very convenient :) The staff are absolutely wonderful and especially Kees, who went out of his way to make for a very pleasant stay. Our room was very clean... More

The Fita was a perfect lucky choice for our first trip to Amsterdam -- perfect location (5 min to everything), i.e. Museums, restaurants, more. The experience could not have been more warm and inviting, the host and staff so friendly and accommodating. Wonderful breakfasts also -- we will return!

Kees and Roel and their team are the ultimate hosts! Very helpful with learning the city and recommendations for places to go. The room was comfy and very pleasant. Breakfast was always a treat... especially the Dutch pancakes. The location was excellent since we are museum fans. We were also able to walk virtually anywhere in the city from the... More

Hotel Fita is just a couple blocks from the Van Gogh Museum and all the other major museums in Amsterdam.. Rooms are all different...only top floors have a/c. Nice breakfast and helpful staff in everyway. Hotel has several bikes for tenants to use. Very reasonable pricing. Great neighborhood. Quiet.

Though our visits were six years apart! We booked a large room, and at first sight I was a little disappointed, remembering the lofty first-floor room we enjoyed then. However, I soon warmed to this room, up on the top floor, despite its lower ceilings. Or rather, cooled, since we arrived in a heatwave of 32 degrees and were delighted... More

This is a small family run hotel which is only a few steps away from the Museum area of Amsterdam. The Van Gogh museum being a short walk away. Our room was on the 2nd floor. It was good size, well equiped, very comfortable with a good size bathroom, and there was no noise whatsoever from outside. Breakfast was served... More

Wonderful all around. Large room with comfortable bed (and air conditioning!!), large bathroom, nice sitting area. Breakfast was excellent. Very gracious and helpful hosts. Location was perfect, right by the museums and easy walking distance to historic canal area. Would stay there again anytime.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Fita for 2 nights after our river cruise. The location is wonderful, just a few short blocks to the museums and trams #2 and 5 that seemed to take us around the city and to all our points of interest. Room was very comfortable and clean. The 2 young gals who work here... More

This is a small family run hotel in a great location by the Riksmuseum and Van Gogh museum. The room and bathroom were large by European standards. Breakfast was included and excellent. Try the cooked for you Dutch pancakes. They are more like our crepes. The only negative was that there is a day care center right next door with... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
