The location is perfect...just a few blocks away from the most important museums, shops and restaurants. The staff is ridiculously friendly and helpful. I got the feeling that it was a family hotel run by its owners....loved them all. We booked a room for 3. The room was huge with a big window and a really nice view. The room...

My husband and I spent three nights at the Owl Hotel at the end of October. Although admittedly the room was the smallest I have ever been in, the hotel offers a good value. It is spotless, the staff is extremely helpful, the location is ideal, there is a decent, basic breakfast included, there is a free computer in the...

A very pleasant little hotel where you are sure to get a cheerful welcome and all the help you need to enjoy your stay. Rooms are vey pleasant with the big advantage of peace and tranquility, as the hotel is located in a very quiet neighbourhood. Despite this it's not far from tram and bus stops and quite an easy...

I stayed for 8 nights in October 2010. The location is safe. As it is autmun, the trees around the hotel was all painted red. Really pretty! The hotel is a short distance away to Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum. It is also a short walk to Leidseplein, just need to pass by Marriot Hotel and cross the road. From...

Having read the reviews on here, and having several bad hotel experiences in the 'Dam, we decided to spend a few quid extra to make sure we got a nice hotel. We paid 260euro for two nights, which to us is a lot of money and could get you two nights at the Grand in Brighton for the same price,...

We stayed 2 nights in a clean double room with large bath. Quiet street close to town center, during world cup games. Staff is helpful and free breakfast is in a nice sunny room. We would stay again, more charming then chain hotels.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
