I really enjoyed my stay here - not only is it super close to the central train station, but it is in walking distance of the harbor, canal tours, the Red Light District, and tons of museums including the Anne Frank house. It's proximity to lots of bars is also great but if you're a light sleeper, use ear plugs.... More

I picked this hotel due to its close proximity to the train station. It's about a 15 min walk (carrying luggage). I missed it at firs since it looked more like a bar/lounge/restaurant, but once you walk in and make a right, that's where you see the reception. The staff was really helpful and guided my friend and I and... More

This hostel was very easy to find from the train station, and very close. Only a 10 minute walk. It's close to coffee shops, touristy shops and the red light district. I walked everywhere while I was there. And I had to force myself to leave, as I could have stayed there for days and days. :)

Firstly the location is great, it was about a 10 minute walk from the train station (which if you're coming from the airport you're likely to be going to). The hostel is in the centre of it all. Our room was a double ensuite, the room itself wasn't too bad, and the bed was very comfortable. Towels are also supplied... More

The room was perfectly clean and even the little toilet (with a big shower in it). Clean towels at your desire. It's in the middle of the red light district, so u can easily go wherever you want in Amsterdam. The only problem? It's a bit too noisy at night, even if the hotel staff offer you freely night plugs... More

We booked a 5 bed private room before 4 months before our trip to Amsterdam. We were happy with the central location and the good price. When we arrived at 10.30am we went to check in, after a few minutes of waiting around wondering what was happening the girls at the desk told us there was "a problem with maintenance... More

Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave us a review. We can learn a lot from reading about your experiences and that's why we appreciate your feedback. Regrettably there was a temporary problem with our on-line booking system which did allow a double booking and we are very sorry for this inconvenience. We were glad we could offer... More

i never actually stayed at this hostel, but someone on my trip did and we pretty much ate and drank here our full trip. The bar downstairs was excellent with really friendly staff, and if you stay there you get a voucher for 25% off food and drink promos which made it really cheap compared to everywhere else in the... This place is located right in the middle of everything. Very useful for convenience and exploring the city. There'a free wifi in the bar and 25% off food if you show your room pass which was pretty useful. My brother and I shared a private twin room with ensuite and breakfast for a decent price. Definitely worth a look at... More

Fantastic hostel, great location. 5 minute walk from the train station, directions given on the website so was easy to find. Lovely staff, spoke great English. We was on the 1st floor, which after reading reviews I thought the noise level from the club downstairs would be loud, but was fine didn't hear anything (we was on the left side... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
