If you're looking to have a great time in Amsterdam, St Christopher's at the Winston has to be your place to be. When you stay at the St Christopher’s not only are you in the most central location, next to all of the best attractions, you also have access to our very own private beer garden, attached to the Belushi’s bar. Add to that a built-in nightclub at the famous Winston Kingdom next door and you can’t go wrong. This is the perfect place to meet other travelers, save money, and party like a rock star. Of course there is also FREE Wi-Fi throughout the entire building. Why not come by and say "hi" to our awesome, multi-lingual team, consisting of friendly expats and locals of all ages? We are always happy to help, or just to hang out. We’re sure you’re going to love your time here in Amsterdam, and in our hostel, as much as we do!

Detailed Reviews
Myself and 6 other friends stayed here for 3 nights for a short holiday, for most of us being our first time in Amsterdam. The hostel was perfect for us; only 10 min walk from the train station and on a street filled with any food/smoke/souvenir shop you could ask for. There’s nothing to be shouted about in the actual room but you’re provided with a toilet, shower, towel and clean bed linen - which is all that’s needed as it’d be criminal to spend too much time in the room whilst in Amsterdam. The bar/smoke garden are also very spacious and handy if you dont want to venture too far (I would recommend doing so though). That said, the staff were the best feature of this place - dealt with a blonde guy when checking in and he couldn’t have been anymore down to earth, efficient, and helpful in directing us to the best spots to go. The doorman was also a very nice, funny guy who was very entertaining when we were coming in after a night out. All in all, our trip wouldn’t have been the same without the hostel due to the location and helpfulness of staff throughout - couldn’t recommend it any higher.

Clean, fun and the food was great. No complaints at all!! Bar was loud but that was to be expected. Beware there is a clocktower near by that chimes very frequently. Free earplugs at the front desk though so the noise was no big deal. Great if looking to party, loved this place

We were sleeping in a private double room and we were
very comfortable, no noise, despite being in the city center.
The entire Winston team was on call at any time of the day.
Thank you very very much for your treatment,
very cool and nice atmosphere.
I would definitely repeat a stay at your hotel :)

But we had a very bad experience checking in. We got to the hostel around 11am and they charged us for the stay but made us wait to the check-in time to get to the room, which would have been perfectly fine if it wasn’t for the fact that by 14.00h (the check-in time) our room wasn’t ready: they gave us the key and we went all the way up stairs to find out the room was a mess. We were tired after a long trip and were all about to go for a nap but we had to wait ONE EXTRA HOUR until we got a clean room. One hour after the check in time, our room wasn’t ready yet (we went up there again to check ourselves cause the staff didn’t even bother to check for us). It was only after we insisted A LOT that they gave us another room that was ready (even though they had told us there weren’t any other rooms available). They offered us a drink but didn’t even apologize.
The rooms are very nice but even when we had a room in the highest floor, we could hear the noise from the streets (there are many pubs around and it noisy at night).
Breakfast very good.

Hi Laurai, Thank you for choosing our hostel, and for taking the time to write this detailed review. We are sorry to hear that we did not live up to your expectations. We sincerely regret your experience with one of our employees and would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We completely understand that all you want to do after a long trip is rest and it saddens us to hear you room was not ready at check in time. Please feel assured that our front desk has been notified about your feedback and steps are being taken to make sure this won't happen again for the benefit of our future guests. We are confident your next experience with our employees will be up to the high standard that you've come to expect from us. The cleanliness of our hostel is also very important and we will pick this up with our housekeeping team straight away. We really like to find out more about what happened and learn from you feedback. We will contact you directly and hope to hear back from you. Once more our apologies and we are looking forward to your reply. Regards, Team St. Christopher's at the Winston

Very pricey for what it offers. For 3 nights at a standard room we only got bathroom bin change every day. Had breakfast included and when asked if we were able to have at least coffee before breakfast time (8 to 10 am) the answer was "NO!". Therefore, we paid for a service that we didn't use. Make sure you will need it before book it with breakfast.
People in the bar are actually very nice! More than in the reception!!!
The plus side is that is near everything.

Had a great time at the Winston, great people, and awesome location above the bar. Especially the discounts for food and drinks since we were guests at the hotel. The location was super close the red light district, and close to the train station that takes us directly to the airport in 15 min.

Spontaneously, quickly and smoothly. The hostel has been booked. Experience has shown that Amsterdam is so crowded on New Year's Day that it was impossible to get in by car. Tip: park the car a little outside (Hilversum).
The people Jung dynamic and above all in a good mood, which is not only due to 420.
What is very important to know, it is celebrated, but the rooms are so separate that nothing is really noticed from the celebration. I was placed on the ground floor right next to the party - nothing to hear - I'm an acoustician, so I can guarantee it to you.
I will not be in Amsterdam next year, I will definitely go there again. MEGA CENTRAL

The hostel is very centrally located, in walking distance to the main train station and Amsterdam's most famous tourist attractions, the room was clean and the bar is a great addition. Apart from the tourists staying at the hostel, you can meet locals at the bar who pop in to have afternoon/evening drinks. The manager was very helpful when my friend and I had a challenge accessing our room after a late night out in the city. I hope to be back here next time and certainly recommend booking with them.

We stayed here for 4 nights in a double room with bathroom. The location is amazing. The rooms are small but have everything you need. Cleanliness was ok, and the beds were surprisingly super comfy. About the noise; I took ear plugs and had no problem. I even found it sweet that you could get some for free at the reception. Breakfast is really nothing to write home about. Everything was always all gone, we were always waiting for clean plates and the coffee still comes in (at least) paper cups. The bar was cool and Saturday night there was quite the party. I've stayed in a lot of hostels, and would say that this is definitely a better one. I would come again!

It was almost in the central of Amsterdam som it was close to almost all the things a tourist would want to be close to. The cleaning there was half and half I would say. I was there during one cleaning and they gave me a new towel even though I hadn’t used the first one I got (positive) but the drawer under your bed to keep your things in were dirty and probably not cleaned in a long time if ever.
When I first arrived I was doubtful about the place but it kind of grew a bit on me. Though I must say that there were some flaws: the ventilation went through my room the it was constantly noisy - not a good room for someone who needs quiet. There were no chance for privacy for there were no drapes or anything to close your bed of and the room (a shared bedroom with 8 beds) were almost too small to fit everything in there.

Hi there, the majority of rooms are accessible by elevator with the exception 3 dorm rooms.
If you have a specific room request you can reach the bookings team at winston@winston.nl and they can assist you.
Hope that helps.
I stayed in a private room which did not have an AC. March should be great weather though. There is a functional lift that can be used to carry your luggage as well.
Booking online entitles you to free breakfast.
No but you can in the smoking area outside
Hi there,
