For the amenities and the cleanliness, the hostel seems incredibly over priced. The main benefit of the hostel is the location being right in the red light district. The staff members seemed to rotate quite a lot and we had a not so great experience with a rude receptionist. They seemed to always be understaffed and during peak period with... More

We stayed in a dormitory with 6 beds (we were 4). The room was not very spacius but the bathroom was. Quite good for hostel, organised, with safety. The bar was good and the breakfast was great. You rarely have a breakfast like that in hostels. Better go early though.

I stayed here for the week of King's Day with my brother. The room was decent and the bathroom was very small. It was tough to take a shower in the tiny shower. Aside from the room the rest of the place was awesome! The bar and restaurant were great and always lively. There was a constant influx of entertaining... More

Stay here on a Monday night in a large dorm with 16 beds. There is a bar/ restaurant at the entrance and red light district is literally around the corner, 5-10 minute walk from the central station. The club inside the hostel was super packed on a Monday night, was about 5 euro fee with key. I couldn't hear a... More

Every room has different concepts from the other and had lots of fun in the one with letter magnets on the walls :) Quite noisy with the awesome bar right at the entrance of the reception downstairs and red light district at the back street but if you are going to go to bed at 10 pm don't bother to... I really loved my stay here! We were there for two nights in a 4 bed female ensuite. The room was HUGE. Very different than most hostels I have stayed in. I loved that the beds were single, detached beds and not bunk beds. They were also some of the comfiest hostel beds I have ever slept on. The only... More

Thank you for your kind and fair review. We'd just like to add that the 1 euro per room key is merely a deposit, which you get back upon check out. Thanks again, we hope you'll visit us in a group again! - St. Christopher's at The Winston More

Stayed at St Christopher's at Christmas time. Really liked the vibes of the hostel. Rooms on the higher floors were nicer. Had to make a change to the rooms on the bottom floor which were a bit cramped and hot but not something I'm not used to. Perfect location. Overall very good.

I had such a great time in this hostel; it was clean and secure, the staff were friendly and approachable, and the food and drinks were great! I stayed in a room with 7 of my friends and I'd honestly recommend the experience to anyone who is considering a trip away with a group of people. The rooms combined with... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
