The hostel has friendly atmosphere, the staff are friendly and kind. People attending the hostel also has the friendly and sociable spirit. It has a very nice bar and a smoking room! Clean, pleasant and fun. I highly recommend it. The price is a little higher than other hostels but I recommend. I spent two days and I would go...

I had never stayed in a hostel before and my experience has definitely changed my view on hostels. I didn't know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. In ways it is better than staying in a hotel because you get a kitchen and a fridge to cook your own food!! Saves a lot of money. Beds are not...

Great place for the wanderer. Meet new people from many countries, form lifelong friendships. Breakfast is frugal, but the staff is courteous and friendly. Young vibe, decent smoking area and bar. Rooms are clean, so are the WCs and showers. Great place for a short stay (if you're under 35!)

I loved my stay at the flying pig uptown in Amsterdam. The atmosphere, from the time you get into the door, until the time you get to your bed, screams "Amsterdam" to you, and is really a fun place if you're travelling with a group of people who are looking for a good time. They have a bar downstairs, and...

Never been in a hostel before and tried to experience it for the first time in Amesterdam. The staff is friendly there, the bathrooms and showers are clean, toilets are clean but small . did not like that you might take a shared double bed if you booked 2 at the same time. some rooms had bad ventilation and was...

This hostel's proximity to the Rijksmuseum makes it really easy to find when you're coming back from the centre of town. The facilities were clean, the breakfast was basic but about what you expect from a hostel and the bar is small but cosy. There are no lifts in this old building so ask for a dorm on the first...

Location - very close to the van gogh gallery, in an upscale amsterdam neighbourhood. quite safe for solo female traveller I travelled with my bf and stayed in a private room. Although it was a students hostel, the facilities were on par with a hotel... (atleast for private rooms)

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
