Detailed Reviews
Recently stayed in the Singel Hotel for our trip to Amsterdam. The location of the hotel is great as it is close to Centraal station (5-10 mins) and close to all local amenities such as Dam square, Jordaan district, Anne Frank Huis etc. There is also lovely little restaurants and cafes around the hotel. Check in and check out was smooth and speedy, all staff were lovely and friendly and spoke great English. Our host at check in provided a city map and marked locations of interest for us which was very helpful. There is a lift in the hotel which was great and quite unusual for Amsterdam hotels. Our room was small (as expected in Amsterdam) but it was all we needed for 3 nights. The room floor had a little slope as well but it didn’t impact our stay, bathroom was small but it was enough at the same time. Beds were comfortable and there was enough storage space for our things. Breakfast is available in the hotel from 7am-10am for €15pp but we did not avail of this, so I cannot comment on the food. Overall we enjoyed our stay in the Singel Hotel and would recommend it to anyone :)

A great hotel in a great location! I read a lot of reviews over several months and so glad I went with this hotel! Staff was very nice and helpful. We arrived to the hotel early (around 9 am) on a Sunday morning after an overnight flight and were excited when they had our room ready in 30 minutes and they welcomed us into the lounge area and coffee:)
We had a double room with a canal view - room 14 which just enough space for 2 people. The shower had great pressure , the bed was comfortable and they provided daily housekeeping always replenishing our towels, and espresso for the in room coffee machine! The room is stuffy so the small fan was helpful and also for white noise.
Our room was on the first level and the canal street view was surprisingly not noisy. We heard a few thuds on the floors above but nothing to complain about.
They have a nice store area with snacks, drinks and souvenirs all which were priced similar to other stores.
The complimentary souvenirs are so sweet also!
The location is great walkable to Anne Frank, Jordaan neighborhood, red light and really anything you could want. We even walked 2 miles to the windmill brewery but we love to walk also haha!
As someone who reads a lot of reviews I can definitely say this hotel was a great choice!

Though there are areas for improvement, I would definitely stay at Singel again next time I visit Amsterdam. The location is AMAZING! It is a stone's throw away from the central train station, in between the chic Jordaan neighborhood to the West and the red light district with its high concentration of "coffee shops" to the East. There are plenty of great restaurants and bakeries nearby, and a particularly memorable bar (Tales & Spirits). Being right on the canal, every time you step outside of the hotel, you feel completely excited about being in Amsterdam. The room itself is quite comfortable and though I thoroughly disliked the blue bedspread, which makes the room feel like a cheap roadside motel room, it is aesthetically pleasing (because of course you can simply tuck it away the bedspread and housekeeping will leave it there). The wallpaper-canal scene is a nice touch, and the window of my room opened onto the side of another building (I did not have a canal side room), which doesn't sound great but it happens to be a cute little historical building, very easy on the eyes. The only downside of Single is the number of essentials missing from the room: a box of facial tissues, electronic kettle, a large enough sink for refilling water, and a working telephone (mine was actually quite dirty). All these missing details are likely a function of the size of the room; the location makes up for the lack. Lastly, Bas at the front desk deserves lots of kudos. He is super hospitable and helpful, adding that all important human touch that makes for a pleasant stay.

I have been very disappointed at the unhelpful attitude of this hotel during this awful Covid-19 pandemic.
I made a booking in August 2019 which was made under the T's & C's of a non-refundable booking. However as the pandemic worsened and my travel plans had to change because airlines cancelled, all of my other bookings at other hotels in Europe were all very accommodating and all provided Full Refunds of unused accommodation even though some of my other bookings were also non-refundable bookings.
The dealings I have had with Singel have been very unsatisfactory, they flatly refused to even provide a credit even though the Netherlands Government has set up Financial aid measures to help out business affected during the pandemic. This hotel would be eligible for the NOW1 and NOW2 financial aid giving them up to 90% of their employees wages........whereas I am completely out of pocket .
It just does not seem fair that a business can claim against Government funding to prop up their business yet they will not refund my unused accommodation.
I will NEVER ever stay at this hotel in the future, they have been very mean and unhelpful

We booked through a hotel reservation site to arrive at the Singel in late August 2020 for 3 nights, but we were unable to fulfill this reservation due to the pandemic & travel restrictions. I understand ours was a non-refundable reservation, however, the pandemic forced cancellation of our cruise, and EU travel restrictions made it impossible to fly to Amsterdam. Even in these unprecedented times, the Singel won't budge on our refund request. So, it's an expensive lesson learned.
I've since made 3 resolutions once travel is safe again: obtain more comprehensive travel insurance than we had this time, don't use a third party hotel reservation site, and don't book a room at the Singel Hotel.

Short walk from amsterdam central train station. Hotel was clean, room was nice and modern. Hotel staff are very welcoming and friendly. We booked on booking.com and got an ok price so was good value for money in comparison to other hotels in the area. Would def stay again on our next visit.

Stayed for one night in a Canal view Double Room. Spotlessly clean and the staff could not have been nicer or friendlier. 5* service from check-in to check out. The room was small and on a slope, including the bed with your head above the level of your feet which was very strange. The walls are paper thin, highlighted by a neighbouring room playing Red Hot Chilli Peppers at 6.30am (not particularly loudly I imagine) as they got ready to leave. Slamming doors also noisy. I wasn't expecting a wet room as the ensuite for the price of the room. Breakfast was great with a big selection for a little hotel which was included when booked direct. It's a fine hotel, but in no rush to stay there again.

We stayed for a week at the Singel Hotel. We had a very nice time, helped very much by the friendly and accommodating staff. The room was clean, but did not have air conditioning. A fan was provided.
A tasty and varied breakfast assortment was provided for an additional fee. The lobby has snacks, drinks, and well priced souvenirs. THe hotel is on the canal and within walking distance of many sites and restaurants.
Our only difficulty was upon our arrival. We had booked the previous night knowing we would arrive at 6 am. We wanted to be able to get to our room to rest. We were told that they would have cancelled our full week’s reservation had we arrived at 7am per their policy. Please confirm with them should you make a similar decision.

A solid 3 star hotel. Rooms a little spartan and compact, the safe was broken when I checked in (and too late to fix) leaving me initially a little underwhelmed. However a good breakfast (especially for a small hotel), clean rooms, super location close to the centre by a quiet canal (at least it was during my midweek stay) and super service from Anniko at reception who took responsibility to fix the safe as well as organising taxis when Uber let me down, left me to almost give a 5 star rating.

We didn’t have one in our room that I can remember.
Hello, Yes we have a lift and yes we have ground floor rooms available. Please keep in mind this is subject to availability.
Good afternoon, yes we have the possibility to hang clothes. We are looking forward to welcome you!
Kind regards, Singel Hotel Amsterdam Staff
Yes. There were young children at the hotel when we were there.
Although July is summertime in Amsterdam the temperature highs are usually still only in the low to mid 20s C. Fans and large opening windows are available in most rooms of the hotel which are adequate.
