I have been very disappointed at the unhelpful attitude of this hotel during this awful Covid-19 pandemic. I made a booking in August 2019 which was made under the T's & C's of a non-refundable booking. However as the pandemic worsened and my travel plans had to change because airlines cancelled, all of my other bookings at other hotels in Europe were all very accommodating and all provided Full Refunds of unused accommodation even though some of my other bookings were also non-refundable bookings. The dealings I have had with Singel have been very unsatisfactory, they flatly refused to even provide a credit even though the Netherlands Government has set up Financial aid measures to help out business affected during the pandemic. This hotel would be eligible for the NOW1 and NOW2 financial aid giving them up to 90% of their employees wages........whereas I am completely out of pocket . It just does not seem fair that a business can claim against Government funding to prop up their business yet they will not refund my unused accommodation. I will NEVER ever stay at this hotel in the future, they have been very mean and unhelpful…
Only hotel out of 9 that we where staying at accross Europe that blatantly refused credit, told us that they paid their staff when they where not working to help them make ends meet so they would not give us a credit as they where struggling, rude and abrupt. Given the current global crisis, and how reasonable all other hotels where was totally shocked that they would think its ok to keep our funds. Absolutlsey no cate factor for their patrons that couldnt even fly in to Europe will be back to Amsterdam but certainly will not be staying here, rated it one because its standing
Given the current global crises, I was hoping this hotel would be reasonable like the other ones I've worked with. Not the case. I asked kindly to postpone my reservation (I didn't even want my money back as I was still wanting to visit Amsterdam later when it was safe) and the staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. I understand this situation is out of everyone's control and everyone is suffering but people can still work together to find solutions to all our problems. They only care about getting your money. It's unfortunate.
The present situation Is know ones fault, I accept that. Wasn't asking for a refund but the postponement of a prepaid stay. Most of all pretty shocked by the Unhelpful rude staff. I'll stay well clear of this place next time in Amsterdam.
When booking a hotel, you're not 100% sure you've picked the right one, well in our case we did and were not disappointed. It was perfectt just a stone’s throw from the restaurants, cafes and shops. The staff were so very helpful with special mention to Aniko, Bas and Jeruen who made our stay all the more enjoyable, thank you 😊.
