We had stayed at the Singel hotel before and liked it. Last February we booked it again, leaving in TWO days and they sent us an email that "our room will be under construction" so they booked us in another hotel whose reciews are terrible. We called them but they would not accommodate us, but I found that other reservation...

This hotel is in a great location on the singles canal a short walk to train station. Great staff and always somebody on reception nothing is too much trouble. Each member of staff we met was always polite and glad to have a little chat on what we have done that day. The room needs a little updating but the...

Great hotel in great location. Rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious for European standards. Our room was nice and quiet too! They have little touches such as courtesy umbrellas that came in handy for rainy days. We also loved the Nespresso machine in our room which we took full advantage of in the morning. Our room had a nice view...

There was not a single bad word that could be said about this hotel. The location is perfect, slightly away from the hustle and bustle but literally a 5 minute walk from where you need to be. It is a 5/10 minute walk from Centraal Station. The staff were very helpful in suggesting places for us to go. Our room...

First time staying at this hotel was perfect value for 3 nights but on arrival after stating in notes for a early check in I was unable to get into a room till after 2pm leaving me and my friend to do some early morning/afternoon touring in the rain. This isn't the reason for a low score as I understand...

I visited Amsterdam in May 2011. The hotels price in Amsterdam was expensive, if near station, over Euro 100, but only 2 stars, If price is fair, it would be far away from station or city centre. Singel was located near Central Station (10 min walk) and at a quiet street along canal, it is easily found and with fair...

My boyfriend and I spent four days at The Singel hotel and it was a fantastic experience, very spacious room and the bathroom facilities were great. Everything was incredibly clean and the staff were very friendly. Having to leave your room key at reception is handy as no risk of losing the key, also the hotel has a lift. Also,...

For being a budget hotel,it's a great hotel directly on the canal. It is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is more then sufficient and very worth the price. The noises of the canal are a little loud at times but it is part of the fun. I'll be back if i'm in Amsterdam. Thank you...

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
