Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Started the tour in amsterdam, booked through a travel agent asked for min 4 star, they offered up the hotel nadia. It was down hill from there, although the staff were ok the hotel itself, I would rate less then 1 star. Steep steps to access in an out, the room was smaller then a shoe box, toilet was in the shower cubical, could not close the door whilst doing your business WTF! I compared pricing with other hotels in area and no comparison, all others where a lot better Do your homework, review comments, the pics we saw were not what was offered! This place really let us down on the trip I would not reccommend this for any reason

I agree with the other reviewers that the manager is very friendly and very helpful. We felt very welcome here. Our room had a view over one of the canals, and was comfortable, clean and quiet. The hotel is located on the floors above the street-level retail activity, so you climb a set of stairs to get to the front desk. The stairs are fairly steep, although not a problem for us. The location is excellent. It is a few blocks' walk to the train station, to the Red Light district, and to neighborhoods along the canals with plenty of restaurants. The double bed in our room was actually two fairly narrow beds set alongside each other, soft mattress but, surprisingly, quite comfortable.

A good local hotel where the staff try very hard to overcome the problems of an old building. eg carry luggage up the steep stairs, offering a free drink on arrival, toasting bread for those who like their bread toasting. Good value for money.
