Dear guest, Thank you for having taken the time to write a review on Tripadvisor regarding your stay in February last year. I am pleased to read that you liked our location and thought our concierge was fantastic; I have shared your kind words with him. So sorry to read that you thought your stay was average; should you wish...

This is the first hotel we stayed at when we began our annual Amsterdam visits. It is very nicely decorated and inviting in the lobby area. The staff are excellent, including the doorman who was very pleasant to speak with as well as very informed about the "spots" we were looking for. The location is excellent and the rooms are...

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your kind words regarding your stay in June last year. It is always nice to read about our staff being excellent, in particular our doorstaff and that you liked our turndown cookies! Looking forward to welcoming you back to De L' Europe in the not too distant future. Kind regards, Jacqueline Grätz

After checking in I attempted to wait in the lobby for friends. As I pulled out a chair in which to sit an employee rushed up to tell me all the chairs were "reserved". As I stood and waited no one arrived to claim the reserved chairs. In addition, the hotel is devoid of color and up to date design....

Dear guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us in regards to your stay at De L' Europe. It saddens me to read about your experience in the lounge. Even if the chairs in a certain area had been reserved for a special event or group we should have assisted you with an alternative seating. This was definitely not...

This place seems to get better every year! The staff is amazing! The hotel is right in the middle of the action. the Dutch Masters wing is incredible. Great place to spend New Years! Make sure you have Gert Jan or Marcel pour you an ice cold Heineken in Freddys Bar downstairs!!

We had a great experience at this hotel. It was warm and inviting and very convenient to a lot of places. It had a very central location. The front desk is always ones first impression and the person that assisted us checking in was polite, inviting, and very informative without it being over the top. She made sure to let...

I am honestly shocked that anyone can find a single negative about this place. We had the best stay! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, staff super attentive, and no detail is left unnoticed. The bellhop had our luggage out of the taxi before we could even get out. We were greeted by name and the check-in process was quick, smooth,...

Firstly, this is an expensive hotel, it is not somewhere I would stay every night for a two week stay, but for a special occasion it is perfect. The rooms are nigh on ornate, with beautiful paintings and enormous, marble bathrooms. Each room had an iPad to, as well as all of the things ipads normally do, control the lighting...

We stayed at this hotel as a treat for my birthday. What an amazing hotel. We arrived earlier than the room being ready, but all the staff were very helpful and accommodating. When our room was ready a member of staff came and found us and took us up to our room. We had a junior suite overlooking the Amstel...

There's no doubt that this is a high quality hotel located in a prime position in Central Amsterdam. We were however somewhat disappointed with the size of our room. The bed was big, so big in fact that there was little room for much else. The bed itself was excellent, with huge pillows, and the bathroom was high quality, some...

This was our second Christmas stay at the hotel and we were once again happy with our stay. Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
