I loved my stay De L'Europe! The staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautiful and the bathroom floors heated. My only small issue was the creepy painting of the little girl whose eyes always seemed to constantly follow me around. Nevertheless, I respect that it was art! This was my first stay, and the front desk were... More

Everything here was fantastic. I would say something about the price but the value was incredible considering service, ambiance, convenience, safety, courtesy, were all well above average. Everyone from the breakfast chef to the bartender to the door man to every desk person went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant experience. I recommend a canal... More

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 20 years and each time I feel I am coming back home. It's a wonderful place with great staff. Really enjoyed the meal in the Bordeau restaurant - the tasting menu was a wonderful experience. Also the restaurant has a great wine list. Freddy's Bar is a very relaxed... More

Having said that, for others, with different taste, and more patience, is a very nice hotel. Staff is exceptional, clean rooms, Good food. But...Passing on my last experience at De L’ Europe… after being very disappointed at “suite” suppose to be an upgrade from my prepaid suite reserved…. On check out.. they have no record of my prepaid deposit. Same... More

Stunning views from the outdoor seating area along the canal, very comfortable. We had the oysters possibly the nicest I ever tasted. also the rosé was perfect. The staff also so friendly. Can not wait to go back to Amsterdam to visit here again.

Sunny friday afternoon on a lovely terrace at the waterside in the heart of Amsterdam: what more would you want? Friendly, efficient service, excellent food. The menu was not as enticing as we remembered it from last time. Rather traditional choices.

Well let me just say this is a first class luxury hotel in a great location! We arrived in the morning after a river cruise and they were eager to get us settled since we would only be staying one night. They upgraded our rooms (yes both) and it could not have been any nicer. You truly feel you have... More

We stayed here one night while on a business trip. The hotel was quaint and offered beautiful views of the canal. One inconvenience was there restaurant doesn't open until 7:00am, and room service is also very limited until 7am. This makes it difficult for business travelers that need to depart early for meetings.

What a beautiful hotel, in an ideal location with superb service! Our room was beautifully furnished and overlooked the clock tower and canal. All the furnishings of the hotel were lovely and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The highlight as our luncheon overlooking the canal. Amazing spot to enjoy a delightful meal, and watch the boats go... More

This Hotel is part of The Leading Hotel of the World, and that's a symbol of quality. It has a old school Bar where Mr Heineken had many drinks, the Frankys Bar. It suppose to be his favorite. I think the Hotel is own by the Heineken family. The location is very good for tourism. Good Hotel in all aspects.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
