I recently scheduled a stay at the Tulip Inn Amsterdam Centre for my first trip to Amsterdam. The location was suggested to me by my travel agent and was considered to be a moderate selection in a relatively central location since it is very close to Amsterdam Centraal. I first noticed that the lobby was relatively well kept, with the... More

We recently had an overnight stay in this hotel in room 333. The room was spotlessly clean, and contained everything suitable for an overnight stay. The double bed was very comfortable. We arrived at the hotel at about 11am and as the room was not available until 2pm we were able to leave our luggage in the luggage room -... More

Having found accommodation near the centre of Amsterdam very expensive over the past few years it was nice to find the Tulip Inn. It is about 5 minutes walk from Central Station and very well placed for the transport system just off the Damrak. Our room on the ground floor we found very comfortable, clean and convenient with a nice... More

Pleased with location of hotel, short walk from station & close to everything. Only plus side of hotel though. First night in our room (104),my friend & I woke up to find a mouse on her bed. We complained & we were moved rooms, (to 321), however staff did not appear surprised, obviously an ongoing problem they are choosing not... More

arrived thursday morning early but hotel offered a luggage storage until our room was ready at 2pm. Staff very polite throughout our stay and always onhand to answer any questions. Our room (113) was very clean and very warm, the bathroom had plenty of clean towels and hot water and a built in hairdryer. The bed was comfortable and clean,... More

23rd March 2013 I stayed at this hotel with my sister for 4 nights. We were allocated room 109. It was a fair sized room and was clean, warm and comfortable. The bathroom was immaculately clean and instant hot water from the bath and shower. The staff were very friendly and very helpful when asked directions and places to go... More

I cannot believe that there is a better value hotel in Amsterdam. The services offered were beyond that which than the pricing would indicate. Arriving two hours early on a bitterly cold day, I was given a warm welcome and immediate access to my room. I'd booked a double and found a large bed, a well-equipped and modern bathroom with... Arrived here late Thursday evening, nice welcome from the reception staff. They explained how everything worked. We went to our room (101) which was on the front of the hotel. It was a nice pleasant room, TV included. Breakfast the following morning was a running buffet, you could have anything you wanted. There was a great choice of cereals, a... More

Stayed here for two nights for a friends 30th. We were given a twin room on the third floor. We had to ask the reception to get somebody to change the bed sheets as they were stained. The cleaner was very apologetic when he arrived and explained they are changing the company they use to launder their sheets as they... More

Recently stayed at this hotel for a short break with some friends. Arrived at the hotel that is perfectly located in the centre of Amsterdam that gives you easy access to many coffee-shops, restaurants, cafe's and supermarkets. When we first got in the door we were greeted by a member of staff and asked to pay a 'city tax' of... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
