The only good thing was the location, just perfect. I never had so small rooms and bathrooms (impossible to get dressed inside). Very noisy : when someone walked in the corridor, you could feel the movement of the ground in our room. Plenty of little stairs to access the inter-floors, very inconvenient with luggages. Breakfast : noisy room, croissants disgusting

This hotel is in an ideal place literally 2 mins from square, rooms were not great and hall ways smelt of damp. All the carpets where being replaced whilst we was there also which didnt make it look great.

The place is like 10 minutes walk to Amsterdam central train station. It is also walk able distance to many cafes, stores and department store. Even canal tours are close by the hotel, so if you are looking for hotel city centre this is a great place.

Excellent hotel at a reasonable price. The hotel's central location makes it particularly attractive, Located three minutes from the main train station, parallel to Dame Street, just two minutes walk from the red light district and Walking distance to shopping street Nieuwendijk Old-fashioned room but still spacious and clean with air conditioning and free internet and safe in the room,... My friend booked this and I was a bit disappointed once I read the reviews, but this place is very good! I mean yes, the rooms are quite small and it is noisy but that's only because of its central location. Within walking distance of pretty much everything (we only had to take a team once), very comfortable beds, spacious... More

Booked room 12months ago. All pics on Internet looked good. Room however was extremely small. Husband could touch ceiling which made room look smaller. Was nowhere to put cases. No air con. Room smelt of bad odours(possibly dope smell from outside). Would not recommend this for anyone especially families. The only good thing I can say is the staff were... More

OK if you are on a tight budget. Clock towers bells will drive you crazy within 1 day ! Room not very good. Suppose it would do for guys on a stag holiday but wouldn't recommend it for anything else. Plenty of restaurants in the vicinity.

Went here with some of my friends for a birthday weekend. What an absolute disgrace! Really wish we'd read the reviews first! The entire hotel is filthy. Me and 2 friends spent £750 on a room here for 4 nights. Diabolical. The room was absolutely disgusting. The bathroom was going mouldy, the room was tiny and we were stuck right... More

The facilities were fifth rate. The access to the bathroom was positively dangerous. It would not pass Safety standards in Australia. The room was nothing more than just that ---a room. The facilities in the room were extremely poor --- a cupboard with no doors, a tv that didn't work. I tried not to think of the filth from previous... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
