I liked the service of the Manager at breakfast. In my 10days at the hotel, I had breakfast twice and on both occasions was she warm, friendly and attentive. She is also the only Manager I saw during the entire 10 days.

This hotel had more of a feel of a 2 star in the UK. Reception and breakfast areas as well as the bedroom we had probably hadn't been decorated in 40 years at least. Corridor carpets were being changed and notices did apologise for inconvenience. However carpets were propped up by our door all of the 4 days we were... More

This hotel is small, feels dirty and the staff are indifferent. It is in a walking distance from everything, located two minutes from Dam square, but it ain't cheap and really not worth it. The public transportation in Amsterdam is very good, and hotels far from the center sounds a lot better to me right now.

Great location in the city centre, but lots of noice from other neighbours in the hotel and from the street. Hard beds and a very busy breakfast with no place to sit. Wifi did work very good, which is a plus.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The location is very good, really central and only about 5 minutes walk from the station. First thoughts on arrival was very tired and in need of sprucing up. The reception staff were friendly and check in was painless. We were given a room on the ground floor which was reasonably clean... More

This hotel was only a few of blocks from the train station and a couple blocks from the red light district. It is older and has some winding corridors to the rooms. The garbage trucks came very early and were very noisy....but the rooms were reasonably priced and I went back to sleep easily. Breakfast was ample and there were... More

In hart of Amsterdam. Very close to almost every thing, central station, Dam square, clubs, bars, coffeeshops and restaurants. For this kind of 3 star hotel it was a bit pricy. During my staying they were busy with some renovations and the workers could turn the radio very hard. The window had no lock but luckily nothing happened. Very friendly... More

Check in was smooth and easy, out room 320 wasn't the easiest to find, lift to the second floor then weaving up stairs to find we were in an attic room, room was long with three Windows, initially thought it's fine it's a base for sightseeing not planning on spending days there, the net curtains looked as though someone had... I stayed at the Tulip Inn on Beursstraat in June 2016 for 4 days. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was space-ish and clean, but could be better lit. My room was over a small street that is filled with bars and restaurants, so a bit noisy late in the evening. One night I woke up to a... More

Time to renovate indeed. Too noisy outside (windows should be replaced). There were holes in the sheets of our bed. The shower door was incorrectly installed due to which you had to pay attention when opening, although clean. The water was or too hot or too cold. Only the breakfast was good. I paid 467 euros for 1 night for... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
