We appreciated the close proximity to the central station. Check in was fast and courteous. Room was at the back and loud. AC was not functioning. Floor was uneven and had damp spots. Breakfast buffet was okay with fresh fruit and yogurt available. Overall, for what we paid, not very good value.

This charming hotel Located superb - 6 minutes from the central station ( by foot ) , and an excellent base for all most interesting places in the city . Rooms are spacious and clean , great shower (GROHE faucet ) - lucky to have an elevator , stairs are frightening ... Good breakfast , varied .

Me and my boyfriend booked this hotel last minute for a short break top Amsterdam. The hotel was undergoing renovation work so a little hectic on arrival but the reception staff very friendly and helpful and someone there 24/7 which I find reassuring. The room we booked was small but clean and comfortable, especially the bed- had a great nights... More

I booked this hotel without reading the reviews first, once I booked it and read them I was dreading staying here! Despite all the negative reviews I can't say anything was really that bad! Upon arrival the staff were really friendly and couldn't have done anything more to make sure we were comfortable despite the fact we wasn't even able... More

This hotel is in a very tired state. I wouldn't have minded that much if it was a cheap and cheerful stay - but it was over £250 a night. Dirty carpets, dirty walls, dirty doors. Chipped MDF furniture, peeling wall paper and a distinctly damp spell. Clearly this hotel has not seen and renovation since the late eighties. This... More

Tulip Inn Amsterdam city Centre a good location for everywhere but not very happy with the hotel. There was no plug in our sink, nor were we given one. The grid on the bathroom door was filthy, we had 2 plastic glasses which were taken away and never replaced, milk not replaced. On our 3rd day we came back and... More

If your looking for a good weekend away in the center of Amsterdam the tulip inn is a perfect place to stop close to all the main attractions . Accommodation is cheap rooms have air con and there is a choice of a fry up and a continental breakfast. But stay away from the grass hopper pub it's very very... More

Entrance area was having work done on it all the time we were there, and no apologies made for the inconvenience this caused, and it did as we could not easily get to our rooms. My mothers door was left open after the cleaners had been in. The room was large but very dated, and the toilet was dirty. Although... More

Have a look at the pictures and judge yourself. The room was very small, which I can live with, but it is not maintained at all, broken walls, bathroom, windows, the window was old, difficult to open and one glass only - - > therefore noisy and cold could come. I found it very expensive (100euros a night per person)... More

I would give this hotel zero stars if I could. I am by no mean a princess - on trips to the UK I regularly stay in Travelodge and enjoy the no frills style accommodation. However, I would rather sleep on the street that stay here again. Firstly the positives. The location which is great, very central. And the wifi... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
