The location was perfect, within walking distance of most attractions and very close to public transport for places a bit further away. I stayed here with a friend but we booked a single room each. The room was fairly basic but bed was comfy and the heating can be controlled. The only disappointment was that they did not provide tea...

This was my second visit to the Piet Hein and I found it just as comfortable and welcoming as the first time. 197 bus from the airport was an easy connection and stopped just round the corner from the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly, giving clear directions for buses and trams - the hotel is well situated...

My partner and I have just returned from our 3 night stay here and we were pleasantly surprised! Our stay was great, arrived late but check in was quick and easy. The rooms are clean, a good size and the bed is so comfy! We also had a lovely view of the garden area as well. The bathroom was well...

Good service; friendly, welcoming, helpful staff; breakfast was a good buffet continental breakfast with some fresh cooked options. Cereals, croissant, breads, cheese, ham, egg, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, orange juice, coffee more than adequate. Location was excellent for the museum area and if you are used to walking there was no need to get a bus pass to reach the...

Room was clean but far too rustic without proper facilities. Room far too small, noisy, poor lighting, poor storage and the warm/air conditioning was unsatisfactory and not consistent. It turned out our "double standard room" was a single room with a futon bed and top up mattress installed so no room available for two people at all and one person...

The hotel is located very close to the museums and tram stops. That was a big advantage. If you walk around the corner there are some good cafe ( I would recommend the "small talk"). There are tram lines that connect you every part of Amsterdam. The rooms are clean, but very small. And I mean small !!! There's hardly...

We have stayed at Piet Hein in years past. We returned because we had enjoyed the hotel and its location. The staff is incredibly helpful even to the extent of calling in a doctor on Xmas day for my husband who was ill. The room we had originally rented was tiny so we 'upgraded' to a somewhat larger one but...

The Hotel Piet Hein proved to be a good choice situated on the edge of a lovely park with easy access to trams to travel to the city centre although we walked i every day. The hotel was great, our room was two floors down from the...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
