Huygens Place Hotel receives high marks for its cleanliness, with guests frequently complimenting the immaculate state of its modern rooms and bathrooms, despite the occasional remark about their compact size. The well-appointed rooms, coupled with a prime location near key attractions and convenient public transport, make it a popular choice for those visiting the city. While some guests have noted issues with noise and water pressure, the overall atmosphere is praised for its stylish design and comfort. The friendly and attentive staff contribute greatly to the hotel's reputation, ensuring guests feel well-cared for during their stay. Despite some desires for larger rooms and additional bathroom storage, the amenities, including a satisfying breakfast, are generally well-received. The hotel is considered to offer good value, thanks to its combination of service, amenities, and location.

It was by far the smallest hotel I have stayed in before but also the friendliest. Rooms were cleaned and checked every single day, even if you were there they made sure to always come back and replace towels, make bed, etc. The rooms are very small so if you plan on hanging out there a lot, maybe this hotel is not your ideal location. Great location to the city, I ended up walking the streets the entire week I was there.

The rooms are petit but very tidy and modern, If you're feeling cramped there's a backyard for lounging and you'll be spending most of your time touring anyway.
The major Museums are a short walk away and you're also right on Vondell park which is a great place to ride bikes or go for a stroll.

This hotel is centrally located- most neighborhoods you'd visit are a short bike ride away. There are also trams right out front but we spent all our time on bikes.

Also near by are some great groceries, restaurants of all varieties and plenty of small shops that are less touristy.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend this spot.

Room Tip: Although there is an elevator, there are some very skinny, steep stairs that might be a challenge.

The hotel was amazing. It was very clean, staff were very friendly. They always offered us help and were very nice. We were able to check in a few hours early as our room was ready so we were very happy with that and they were more than happy to keep our suitcases for a few hours after we checked out. No complaints, would 100% recommend. There were pubs, restaurants and shops all within walking distance and many trains to get close by.
There is drinks and food to buy downstairs at reception (eg. Crisps, chocolate, beer, wine, water, noodles)
We enjoyed our stay

The staff was exemplary. However, the hotel itself was a disappointment. Let me explain. The rating for the hotel is 4 stars, far from it. Upon arriving, you enter a very small lobby/reception area. They only have one staff member checking you in. When we arrived, the lobby was full of luggage and guests. When it was our turn to check in, which was easy, I asked to see the room first. The attendant showed me the elevator as our room was on the first floor (the hotel has four floors) They only have one elevator in the hotel, and it is the smallest elevator I have ever seen in a hotel, only big enough to hold 2 guest and one small carry-on, and nothing more. We had a superior double room, which was very small. The bathroom was about the size of a very small walk-in closet. When entering the rooms, one of the first things you will notice is the floors creak when you walk around in them. They claim the rooms are sound proof, however you could loudly hear guests talking in the hallways. The breakfast buffet area again was very small with only 8 tables, for $21 each the selection was very limited compared to other hotels not worth the price. The location was good if you want to go to the museums, however if you want to go to the Grand Palace area (highly recommended) you will need to take a taxi, about 15-20 euros each way. We had laundry done, the type where you suff it in a laundry bag. It came back cleaned yet all stuffed back in the same laundry bag. All the clothes while clean were wrinkled due to over stffing upon return. This really is only a 2 star hotel with an excellent staff. The only reason I am writing this review is to forewarn those expecting a 4 star accomidation, as if I had read a review like this, I would have chosen another hotel.

Location is good, close to a tram line into the centre and not far from Leidseplein which has other tram lines and many restaurants and bars. We did walk right past the hotel when we arrived as there is scaffolding up and work is being done. It might be nice if the hotel provided a bit more signage at the entrance at this time. Check-in was quick and easy and the staff were all friendly.

We booked 2 rooms for 4 nights and 1 room for 1 night only. The rooms were not a bad size by Amsterdam standards and the bathrooms were very modern. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms were kept very clean. The only slight problem is that the lift is very small and the rooms are a few steps up or down from the lift, so be prepared to carry your bags. One of our rooms was on the 4th floor overlooking the garden courtyard, and the other room was off the garden. There is a mini-bar, but you only get 2 complimentary bottles of water for the entire stay as it is not replenished daily.

Breakfast was of a good continental standard with a wide variety of cheeses, eggs, meats, salmon, breads etc. The breakfast room is small, so you may have to wait for a table at peak times.

The hotel was fairly good value for money as far as Amsterdam hotels go, although the tourist tax in Amsterdam is really high (not the hotel's fault). I would definitely choose to stay here again.

Small but clean, quiet rooms, full breakfast included every morning, convenient walking distance to most popular sites ( VanGogh, Anne Frank, boat tours, etc.). Staff was friendly and helpful, most notably Toby, who was very helpful giving advice on negotiating the various tourist sites. Toby truly has a love for his hotel, the City of Amsterdam, and in helping visitors with travel advice.
I would stay here again.

We loved our stay at Huygen's. We were staying in one of the garden rooms and we were worried that it might be cold in the room but the room was so lovely and warm and the heating was easy to control ourselves. The room itself was the perfect size and seemed to be bigger than the average hotel room in Amsterdam. The staff were lovely and so helpful. We came back to a cleaned room every day and they restocked the waters in the fridge every day which we thought was a really nice touch. Location was great because it was right beside a metro and it was also within walking distance of plenty of nice restaurants and one of the big Christmas markets in the museumplein. We will definitely be recommending this hotel to our friends.

We had an amazing stay at Huygens Place. The hotel is in a great calm and beautiful area, not far from the city center and very close to Museumplein and Vondel Park. The staff was very nice and friendly. Delicious breakfast with many options, available from 7 to 11 am, so you don’t have to wake in a hurry to avoid losing breakfast. The rooms at the garden are great for avoiding stairs and to have a smoke outside. The room was big enough, with a comfy bed, air conditioner and also a heater. The only annoying thing is the bathroom light switcher is out of the bathroom. Also sometimes a strong smell of cooking food came through bathroom ventilation, so we had to keep the exhaust fan always on to avoid that. The shower is great, but the glass protection should be wider as to avoid wetting all the toilet floor. As a tip to the hotel, I would recommend to install a lot more hooks, hangers and shelves around the room, the more the better. I intend to stay there again when going back to Amsterdam.

Our room was pretty basic with not much storage space, the bathroom was extremely small, and the pillows were a bit thin and lumpy to my liking. That said everything was very clean, and the aesthetics are appealing. Our room faced the internal garden courtyard, which was quiet and lovely.

While there’s no full service restaurant or bar, a pretty substantial breakfast is served daily in their breakfast room.

The service, however, is where this hotel shines. It’s run by people who care, and everyone I encountered during our 4 night stay was super friendly and very helpful, from the day staff to the overnight security. We had an incident with the hot water one night and the staff went out of their way to make it right for us. So kudos to them.

One final note- during our stay there was construction on the main road outside, so the sidewalk was completely missing. Not the hotel’s fault, of course, just something to be aware of.

Good value for money.
I booked a single room - it was a very tiny room (but very clean, felt recently modernised, had a good bathroom with warm water and good pressure, and well equipped - shower gel etc. fridge, coffee machine, hair dryer):
Very friendly staff at reception :)
Also very central location!
