We spent a lovely weekend in Amsterdam, visiting galleries and staying at the Ambassade Hotel. It's a beautiful 17th century building with fully modern amenities, well located in the centre of the city with canal side views and convenient for museums and restaurants. Their own restaurant is excellent. The hotel makes a feature of their own art collection, mainly work...

We stayed for two nights in midd January 2017 and had a great time. For the money our room was wonderful. The staff could not have been more attentive. The decor was superb. This place is extremely well located for tourists with walking distance of just about everything.

I have been a regular guest at this hotel having staying at least once a year for the last four years. Since the renovations and addition of the restaurant this has become the outstanding hotel in my favorite European city. I have found the staff excellent in every way and the "superior" rooms with canal views are both spacious and...

Friendly and professional at arrival, excellent room, and breakfast with indeed nice and considerate staff. The bar surrounded with thousands of different books was cosy and familiar. The service in the bar excellent and so was the snacks and drinks.

Stayed here a couple of nights last week. The room was lovely, the staff welcoming and helpful and the location was perfect. It was easy walking distance to the museums as well as into the lively town area - though the hotel area was lovely and quiet. Would highly recommend it!

We stayed here for five days over the New Year's weekend and loved every single thing about it. The room was lovely, the bathroom large and very thoughtfully designed. I loved the hallways winding up, down and around the building -- so much more interesting than one long corridor. But the very best part of our experience was interacting with...

We always stay at the Ambassade when we are in Amsterdam. The people are kind and thoughtful with very personal service. No request goes unanswered. Each room is unique and the views of the canal are enchanting. The Library bar provides a welcome refuge at the end of each day and browsing the book collection is like a scavenger hunt...

This was one of the best hotels I have stayed at. The location is perfect for Amsterdam- by the beautiful 9 streets area near the flower market, and walking distance to many of the sights (Jordaan, central shopping area, damm square) . The staff were so helpful- they assisted me booking a dinner cruise before the holiday and left chocolates...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
