Came here for a work dinner so didn't have any say. I was told it was picked due to the excellent tripadvisor ratings. Very cool building decorated well. At first I wasn't sure if it was for me or not but I was very impressed at the food. Having not been paying I can't comment on price but service and... More

From the moment of arrival we were happy. The staff were friendly and honest. This Hotel is in a beautiful part of the city with great restaurants just a short walk away. We loved our room overlooking the canal at the rear of the hotel (Hotel is 10 houses combined so layout is quirky, but fun). Strolled out for dinner... More

For our first trip ever to Amsterdam we wanted to stay in terrific place and succeeded on all counts. Fantastic central location 15-20 minute walk from literally everything. Wonderful staff and atmosphere. We asked to move from back to front of hotel after three days and they juggled and put us in one of our all-time favorite rooms, top floor... More

The stuff are very welcome and professionals. The rooms are pretty big, but the bathrooms are great. They use beauty products from Bvlgari in the bathroom. The hotel Is located in the center, very close to all major attractions. Next time in Amsterdam we will stay here again for sure.

We stayed 3 nights and wish it could have been longer. After a poor experience in Antwerp this hotel was a breath of fresh air. The staff were wonderful. The young lady who checked us in insisted on taking our luggage to our room and showing us the room amenities. This was not expected but very much appreciated. A wonderful... More

Dear Sir, Madam, Thank you very much for your wonderful Tripadvisor-contribution, it is very encouraging reading you enjoyed your experience and the service of our colleagues. We do very much appreciate your nuance on the art: the art on display in the public areas, corridors and rooms of the hotel is of the post-war cobra movement with roots in Denmark,... More

I stayed two nights in this very nice hotel located really centrally in Amsterdam in these lovely traditional buildings. Beautifully decorated and very well kept. Welcoming in all aspects. Friendly service, homelike feeling. My impression of Amsterdam has not been the best, but this hotel and the area around it totally changed my view. I stayed in my attic room... More

Just completed an outstanding two-day stay at the Ambassade Hotel in Amsterdam. The property is a quiet, beautiful place. Intimate yet full-service in every regard. The staff is outstanding. The bar is simply terrific with VERY talented bar staff. Great place for a cocktail. I enjoyed dinner in the hotel restaurant one evening and was extremely pleased. The Restaurant seemed... More

I spent a week at the Ambassade Hotel in Amsterdam. It is a fine hotel with a central location. So pretty on the canal. The room was very comfortable and pretty. The bar/library was elegant with soft jazz music and comfortable chairs surrounded by books signed by their authors. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I loved my stay there... More

How many hotels have authentic, eclectic, and extensive art galleries? I would stay here for the art alone. I spent roughly 40 minutes simply wandering through the common areas and then the halls examining the art - paintings, pottery, sculpture. It was all modern, which is what I like, and interesting. Oh yeah, the hotel. Like most rooms in Amsterdam,... More

Dear Sir, Herewith we wish to thank you for your visit to the Ambassade Hotel and your great words on the Tripadvisor-website, this is greatly appreciated. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
