close to the metro stop niewmarkt or tram stop spui. Easier to roll baggages from nieuwmarkt as not so many cobbles. The delightful Ilie checked us both in & out the following day. We had a lovely split level room at the back of the hotel, lovely & quiet, with views of the lane behind. We didn't spend much time... More

It was our second stay in Radisson blu Amsterdam. We love this hotel, the location is perfect and rooms are neat and well designed. We did ask for a complimentary water in our first night and were told to either buy water from the store or use tap water. Other than that, would defiantly recommend staying there.

I came to Amsterdam on business, and I could not have asked for a better experience. This is wonderfully central to everything without being too much in-your-face touristy. It's on a quiet street that is flanked by canals, and a wonderful welcoming staff. The rooms are impeccably renovated, with wonderful craftsmanship in the restrooms (my business class room had heated... More

This four-star hotel is very comfortable and reasonably close to the "action", but in a quiet area of the city. Staff was helpful and accommodating and the included breakfast was quite good. We appreciated the easy underground access to our building, across the street from the reception desk.

Stayed here for 4 nights for my sons 19th birthday . Booked a superior twin room . The room was ok had everything we needed and was comfortable . The bathroom was tiny but, again had everything we needed. The hotel is pretty central to all the museums /attractions in any direction. We tended to walk everywhere and a good... More

The hotel is located within walking distance of almost every major attraction. Dam square less than 10 minutes by foot, very near to lots of great cafés on the water front (The Jaren), shops and restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms always clean, breakfast very nice.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
