We booked 4 rooms at Best western Dam square inn for 2 nights and we were a group of 8 adults and 1 kid. The hotel is in one of the bylines of the famous dam square in Amsterdam right behind the church. Location is awesome as well you get all the main entertainment and shopping streets of Amsterdam right in the neighbourhood of the hotel. The hotel is in a no vehicle zone so one needs to keep in mind that the luggage will have to be dragged up to the main road to and fro from the car. The hotel has comfortable but small rooms and none of the rooms have any view as such. The rooms were small and the bathrooms were also pretty tiny. The only thing we didn’t like about the room were the beds as the mattresses were very very soft and went under your weight so very uncomfortable to sleep in. The breakfast spread is ok and they didn’t have a live counter for eggs. The hotel provided a water fountain in the lobby for drinking water both still and sparkling. A special mention regarding the staff at best western who ere excellent. Especially Angela who used to be at the reception in the mornings. The staff at the hotel is great. This place is an excellent choice in Amsterdam as it’s right where a tourist should be.
A special mention

Stayed here for three days on a mini break. About 10-12 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central station, the hotel is a former distillery located down a side street - no options for parking. We had ground floor rooms but frosted lower window panes so no provacy issues. Roomes were warm and well-ventilated - beds were VERY comfortable. Nice shower (no bath) the toilet was ratyher cramped in the corner. Booked breakfast every day, standard continental breakfast fayre and plenty of choice for it. Located just off Dam Sqaure, would certainly use again if visiting Amsterdam.

We were so impressed by this hotel. It’s close to everything — walking distance to a lot of the sights we wanted to see, and literally around maybe two corners from Dam Square. There are many restaurants and stores steps away (including a bakery directly across from the entrance, and a Stroopwaffel bakery before you hit the next intersection), but the hotel itself is in kind of an alley, so it makes it feel tucked away and makes it less noisy than being on a main street. There are tram stops about a 2-minute walk away, and Centraal Station is about a 10-minute walk away. The room and bathroom were nice sizes, and our room looked out on a narrow alleyway. But the hotel impressed me for two reasons, neither of which I’ve ever encountered at a hotel before and which were both extremely appreciated: First, they have a tap in the lobby with still and sparkling waters, and they have glass decanters you can fill to take to your room, or you can fill your reusable water bottle (or the cute little metal one they gave us!) there. We used this daily, it was fantastic. Second, we usually choose not to have housekeeping every day when we stay in a hotel, so we had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. When we came back from our first day of exploring, there was a laundry bag hanging on our door with fresh towels and a roll of toilet paper. I wish every hotel did this! I can’t believe this was the first time we’ve seen this done, but I hope it becomes policy at more hotels. There’s also a free breakfast, which was great! No hot items (there is a toaster), but there are meats and cheeses, breads, some veggies and fruits, cereals, yogurts, pastries, coffees and juices. The only minor complaint we had about the hotel was that the mattresses were softer than we like, but that is a small thing and we wouldn’t hesitate to book here again.

The hotel is located just off Dam Square and is close to the Royal Palace. The hotel can be reached in approximately 15 minutes’ walk from the main rail station (Amsterdam Centraal) or via one of the many trams which pass close to this location.
My room was on the 2nd floor and was furnished to a good standard, although I would have appreciated a mini-fridge. The room was clean and I had no issues with noise and slept well. My booking included breakfast which was also of a good standard complete with cereals, breads tee/coffee/juice and the obligatory cold meat buffet, which is common in many European destinations.
In summary, a well-run hotel with friendly staff, which I would highly recommend to leisure travellers. In particular, a special mention for Evangelina on reception, who was very helpful to me during my visit.

The hotel is located in the center of Dams Square within walking distance of the trains and many attractions. The hotel rooms are well appointed with everything guests need for a comfortable stay. The hotel offers fresh water with bottles that guests can fill and bring to their rooms. There is fresh coffee and a bar in the lobby too. We enjoyed this hotel!

Just steps from 2 tram lines and Dam Square. Many restaurants nearby. Good breakfast (no hot foods) with range of coffees and juices plus delicious hot chocolate. Glass bottles in lobby could be filled with sparkling or still water and taken to our room. Loaner umbrellas were so helpful for rainy days. Friendly, helpful receptionists.

We loved our stay in the charming BW Dam Square Inn for 3 nights to be centrally located for touring this beautiful city. We like authentic European hotels with character and this fit the bill. Despite the age of this historic former distillery building, the rooms are rather modern with great A/C, as it was an early September heat wave when we visited. The room was small (don't expect American standards) but totally comfortable for our stay. The bed was comfortable and the modern bathroom had a great shower. Our room had one window that faced a small inner utility courtyard, but did give natural light. I only wish we had a luggage stand, as we had to place our suitcase on the floor. The front desk staff were all very nice and professional. They even ordered a taxi for us upon check out. There is one small elevator that did fit the two of us and our large luggage. The included continental breakfast was very good and plentiful in a lovely room. Great to start off our days touring. I loved the location on a small Straat with a cafe, restaurants, and right adjacent to the Old Church and nearby Dam Square. Due to the narrow size of this street, taxis need to pick up/drop off about 1/2 block away, which was not a problem for us, but could be for people with mobility issues. We walked to all the tourist sights from this central location. Definitely visit De Drie Fleschjes Bar next door for an authentic Dutch Gin Jenever experience.

The location suited us perfectly, but everything else let it down. Bad service, bad breakfast and a lot of noise. Those at the reception (when there was someone there) were not very nice. The only ones who were nice were Luca and a girl whose name we don't know. We felt unwelcome throughout our stay. The breakfast was so bad that we only used it one day. No hot food, very little selection and old baked goods (croissants). Do not recommend paying for the poor breakfast experience. Impossible to sleep as it sounded as if the entire hotel was being refurnished by other guests or housekeeping. No noise-reducing windows, so there was a lot of noise from outside as well. We will never come back here.

Good, peaceful, location, close to Dam Square and about 10 to 15 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central train station. Average room, but clean and had all we needed. The interior walls of the hotel could do with a paint, as it looks tired, but otherwise OK. The staff were very friendly and helpful and no problems checking in and out. Breakfast very dull. Several types of bread, croissants, cold meat and cold boiled eggs, yoghurts and juice, tea and coffee - that's about it. Nothing hot (except there is a toaster!). Frankly, for 250 Euros for a double room per night, I think they could lay on a bit of hot food. I had an issue with their pillows - far too big, made my neck ache and I did ask if they had smaller pillows, but apparently not. Other than that, all good.

Nice and clean, good beds and pillows, ac worked fine. Small and cozy hotell in a very charming place. Waterboiler with coffee in the rooms, and you may fill up a big bottle of either still or sparkling water to your room at front desk.Good breakfast. Second time we stayed and will come back for sure. Situated very central, additional to a foodstore close by there is an Italian restaurant and a coffee shop for small meals and homebaked pastry, opposite the hotel entrance.

"Pedestrian area, so taxi have to be prebooked. We opted to walk to and from the station, being in walking distance walking the Canal side pavement of Damrak is less busy."
