Simple contemporary with ample amenities and friendly staff is what I can say about this hotel. Our twelfth floor room had a good size lighted closet with full length mirror, iron, ironing board and large brush hanging on the wall for, I suppose, clothes. The bathroom was large with soaking tub and bowl style sink. The sink was very low.... More

I went on a business trip last month and stayed at the Hotel Okura for two nights. Reception staff were really warming and welcome and check-in was fast. I had a corner room (1224 I believe it was) with views of the city. The rooms are so spacious and the bed was a king size one, which for me was... More

The hotel is nice, rooms are spacious and comfortable, and boast gorgeous views of the city and great sunsets! We had a poor experience with their concierge though. We tried to rent bikes but he couldn't find them, only to tell us half an hour later he had given them to another couple. He did not even apologise, or provide... More

Dear Henri S, Your feedback is very valuable to us. We regret to learn that we were not able to offer you the bikes at the right moment. Please rest assured that we have communicated your findings with our concierge department. This is definitely not in line with the quality of service we are known for. Thank you for the... More

Okura is a hotel that has good facilities (restaurants, bars, location on the canal, pool) and excellent service. It well deserves its 5 stars. I was a little worried that it would feel too far away from the Centre of town but instead what you find is that you are immersed in the lovely Dutch way of life. I walked... More

This is a wonderful hotel for visitors who want a luxurious experience. The hotel staff is gracious. Since the staff realized it was my son's birthday, he was greeted by a beautiful gift and an unbelievable rich dark chocolate embossed cake and a card. Many of the guests are cruise vacationers who arrive at the hotel by tour bus. It's... More

Beautiful hotel, excellent breakfast, great service. The staff really takes this up a notch from your average hotel..they strive to make your visit comfortable and relaxing. We were here for 3 days pre a Viking river cruise and totally enjoyed our time in Amsterdam and the time spent in the hotel and outside on the terrace, watching the boats on... More

We were booked into the Okura by Viking as a river cruise extension. Very posh hotel, rated 5 stars for Amsterdam. We had an unbelievable corner room - huge with views in two directions over the city. Bathroom was equally impressive with both a hand-held shower and an overhead rain shower. This is not a budget hotel and the restaurants... More

The hotel has a warm feeling with wood paneling throughout. A drink on the canal provides a view of the Dutch enjoying their waterways. But the delightful Japanese dining is the highlight. The Teppenyaki was a culinary experience the equal of the finest offerings in London or New York; and value for money in euros. The staff knowledge and attentiveness... More

We stayed in a Deluxe Junior Suite for 2 nights in the combination package with a Ciel Blue dinner. Both the room aswell as the dinner was very nice. Concluding this hotel is highly recommended. The room showed on certain things its age though (some furniture and older tv). But even with a bit dated interieur everything has kept its... More

I stayed for a weekend break here and the hotel is fantastic. The staff (especially the room attendants) were lovely and friendly. The room I stayed in had a panoramic view across Amsterdam which was amazing! The room was spacious and clean (superior twin) with good size twin beds which were extremely comfortable. The only minor complaint and it is... More

Staying in De Pijp

Neighborhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
