Detailed Reviews
I'm going to start with the negatives! City Tax which is 7% of your room rate per night. Service package fee of 4 euros per night and Tourism fee which is 3 euro pp pn. Everyone has got to pay this! The hotel and booking.com needs to get there act together and make it clear how it works! You pay them when you checkout! We wasn't aware of this! They also put a charge on your credit card, be careful.
If you are visiting Amsterdam for a mini break this hotel is quite far out but only 10mins from airport. We was abit worried but found that it was really easy to get into the city centre on the 397 bus running every 10 mins from the bus stop five mins up the road. When you get off at Leidseplein you can either walk to Dam square and main attractions taking in the sights, or the Number 12 tram. Very Easy!
This Hotel is very clean and comfortable (amazing bed) very good shower. Bar Drinks not to pricey.
Some staff could be more friendly!
Breakfast was quite expensive!

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Unfortunately the extra you need to pay for city tax etc. is something that you have to pay in every hotel in Amsterdam. We thank you again for the feedback and we hope to see you again sometime in the future. Sincerely, Mercure Amsterdam West

Just back from staying at this hotel. Very easy to get to and from the airport either by bus or taxi (10 minutes). The hotel was clean and had good facilities, the mini shop at reception was perfect for snacks at night. This hotel isn’t the best if you’re going into the city everyday. We did get Ubers/bolt some nights which is around a 20/25 minute drive and price dependent. Public transport is cheap and efficient however be prepared that this will take around 40-50 minutes and is a bus then a tram. The bus stop is also around a 10minute walk from the hotel.

Dear Anna, Thank you for reviewing your recent experience. It is gratifying to hear that you found our proximity to the airport convenient and our hotel's cleanliness and facilities up to your satisfaction. We are also pleased that the mini shop at our reception served as a convenient amenity during your stay. We regret to hear that the distance to the city center did not meet your expectations. We understand that while public transportation is efficient and economical, the travel time may not be ideal for all our guests. However, this is a temporary situation. We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you again in the future. Best wishes, Mercure Hotel Amsterdam West

Good clean rooms and comfortable bed. Adequate shower and all accessories worked well. Hotel staff either friendly or surly, didn’t seem to be any half measures. As described the hotel is well situated for the 397 bus that travels from the airport to city centre. This is ok unless you are arriving from the airport after dark. Although the hotel sign can be seen from the highway, when exiting the bus if it had not been for the very kind bus driver I’m not sure we would have found the entrance at all. Another issue is the area around the hotel. I am sure during the day it is quite hospitable but if I were travelling alone at night this is not a salubrious area. Drug needles on the floor, dodgy characters hanging around and on one occasion even a blood curdling female scream. Next time would move closer to the city.

So initially when I checked in the receptionist said they just have to verify my card which I assumed meant to check with my ID, but then he said there will be a small charge, the initial amount he put into the card reader was €160, which was more expensive than my hotel and would have been half my money for the trip, so I said no I have already paid and he didn't respond and just cancelled it and put €20 in, I was still hesitant to pay €20 for no reason but i didn't want to cause a fuss so i just paid. The stay was fine and my room was comfy, however after checking out I realised on top of the €20 there was another charge of €100 that I didn't agree to at all and wasn't informed of, this left me with no money for the rest of my trip as I'm a backpacker, so I'm currently surviving off small amounts until my next payday. Upon emailing them they just replied that it will be refunded in up to 21 days (which is the end of my trip) and I'm wondering if they would have even refunded the money if I had not pointed it out to them. This hotel will try and scam you for as much money as they can and for a reputable brand such as Mercure I am extremely disappointed and will be taking necessary action if not refunded

Arrived at 10 am at the hotel after a 10 hour drive and was very pleasantly surprised to be able to check in immediately without needing to wait until the official 2 pm check in time, this might have been because they were quiet due to Corona Virus, but in any case it was much appreciated. The reception staff were friendly and efficient as was the waiter (I think called Moes) in the bar/restaurant. The room was clean, comfortable, warm and cosy so I was more than satisfied with the whole stay.

This hotel certainly does not warrant to be a 4* hotel. It is massively understaffed, and the majority of those are simply not up to the task given to them. It's grubby, i.e. not really dirty but not clean either. The chair in my privilege room was so dirty that I had to request (and later insist with the treat of checking out if not handled) a replacement, which eventually arrived but really was not in a much better state that the one in the room already.
The hotel advertises to have its restaurant open, that is true but what it 'forgot' to tell its prospective clients is that the menu cart is extremely limited on top of which the food served is very average as well.
I was advised that the hotel has 'a few' staffing problems after covid - well it that's the case why open your hotel, charge 4* rates and give 2* service. The 'Covid `excuse' is starting to wear thin, certainly if other hotels can manage it very well. A good positive example of that is for instance the Novotel Schiphol! I think the management of this hotel needs to rethink its approach to hotelkeeping because for starters they will never see this ALL member back in their establishment. Having used the various Accor brands throughout Europe for at least the last 10 years I can safely say this hotel unfortunately pulls down the Mercure and Accor brands down considerably!

I was very disappointed with this hotel. I stayed there about 10 years ago and was surprised to see that it that the rooms haven't been renovated over this time. So it is all a bit sad and run down. The corridors are particularly shabby looking and as you have to walk down some very long corridors to get to some rooms, this is noticeable.
Moreover, the Sunday night we went the kitchen wasn't open due to staff shortages, so all they could provide was a very poor looking Pizza. In the end we ordered a take away and used some plates and cutlery from the hotel, but it ended up being a rather late evening. What is really upsetting is that we asked about the restaurant on check-in and were told it was open between 18:00-21:00. If we had been properly informed we could have planned better. Note that there are no other nearby restaurants.
The car park is quite expensive at 25 Euro, considering that the hotels is located a long way out of the city centre.
So I won't be repeating my stay at this hotel.

Initially spent four nights prior to a cruise and one night after the cruise before flying back to Australia. Hotel was part of a package, flights, accommodation and cruise. We found the hotel ideal, not five star fuffle but a functional, clean well located place and with an Amsterdam Tourist Bus ticket extremely convenient for travel to and from the city, cruise terminal and just a few minutes on the 397 bus to get back to the Airport for the trip home. The location is in a tranquil outdoor setting, just a few minutes walk to a lake, evening meal in the dining room, even though the menu was limited, served with great goodwill.would not hesitate to stay there again.

We booked this hotel because it was reasonably priced but we soon learned it wasn't worth the money. This hotel isn't deserving of 4 stars.
When we arrived the staff were rude. Our room was located right beside rooms that were being renovated, we didn't meet a single soul on that floor. Drilling, banging, lugging of equipment, hoovering etc. from 9am every morning of our stay. So if you want to relax and sleep in it isn't possible. Nowhere on their website or in the hotel was it made aware to us that they were renovating parts of the hotel, if it was brought to out attention we wouldn't have stayed here. There was lots of electric wires and cable lose at all hours of the day and night, emergency lights were hanging from the ceiling also.
When we arrived we noticed our bin bags weren't changed, there were coffee stiring sticks in the bedroom bag and toilet paper in the bin bag in the bathrooms.
Our heating wasn't working in the room and the room was like ice, extremely hard to sleep when the room is freezing. When brought tbis to the receptionist attention we were told it was working and nothing more came of our issue.
Sadly I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, and I wish we hadn't have wasted our money.
It is far out you have to get the bus and a tram into the city you can expect to allocate at least 30 mins travel time there and back every time. There is a petrol station beside it, I'd recommend buying your food and drink there as a bottle of water was nearly 4€.
Avoid this place at all costs.

Hotel with no location, the receptionist was fine for check-in. Came down to enjoy the last night at bar and shock that TERRIBLE service from 1 of the younger guy. The rudeness and expensive beers that you can imagine (Eur7.50) per glass, will never return.

The hotel has an agrement whit a pizza restaurant but I don't know if they deliver so late
When I visited this hotel in June when we arrived at the bus stop we waited approximately 1 hour and a half, we called the hotel and let them know we were there and they sent the shuttle straight to get us, they are meant to run every half hour but we found this didn’t happen...
when returning to the airport just request at reception and book a time slot!
