the hotel is always the same to itself, the only unpleasant surprise is that the private garage that they used to offer is now closed for renovation (I was told from concierge for the next two years) so you have to park near the railway station in a public garage than walk back with your luggages if you don’t leave them priorly at the hotel. I was there on the weekend so renovation work were not in progress, but probably during the week it is different

The hotel was very cozy, the attendant who welcomed us was very kind, the breakfast was excellent. The city is beautiful, after a day of walking there is nothing like sleeping in a very comfortable room. I will definitely come back.

This hotel is an abomination, not worthy of Renaissance or Marriott brand. Our Transavia flight was delayed (what a shock), so we arrived at the hotel at 10pm on a weekday. The staff member who checked us in was not very professional and seemed inexperienced. Perhaps that's why she had the 10 pm shift. She told us we were upgraded to a Ren room from a standard room. Unfortunately, the room was disappointing. There was horrible musty smell in the room. We called and asked to change rooms. First the front desk sent a person with some type of spray, presumably to hide the smell. We politely declined the spray and was eventually moved to another room. This room also had a musty odor, but it wasn't as strong. The room ceiling is very low, leading to a cramped feeling. The bathroom was extremely small and cramped. The mattress was super uncomfortable. I could feel every spring. It must have been decades old. The only thing good about the hotel is the location, about 5 minute walk to Central train station. We got out of there as quickly as possible the next morning. I hope the renovation is a complete make-over because this hotel needs it.

it is the dirtiest 5 stars i ever seen, first of all, i checked in at 16.20PM because no room was ready before, Simona told me that it was like this and room are available AFTER 16.00PM without garantee !!!!!! if you paid for a room with a view, then have a look on the works in the building facing the hotel. you don't want to see them ? don't worry, you will hear them then, in the room carpets are old and incrusted with dirty untill the coulour changed, when i noticed to your colleague Simona, she simply denied arguing that she was sorry that the hotel didn't meet my expectation. i invited her to come and notify by her eyes how dirty it was but she declined. she did not accept my wish to cancel my reservation without costs like i've done something or i lied about something. breakfast is poor and served in a cold bar with an electric heater plugged in the wall and cords lying on the ground NOTHING was good and did NEVER deserve the asked price (more than 300€/night) or the 5stars i have shortened my stay in Amsterdam (for my wife's birthday) because of this foolish hotel

I took a room in the hotel. There was heavy construction activities that resulted in a very high noises and this is the reason that I couldn’t sleep at the day time. When I talked to the receptionist about the noise, they said we can’t do anything about it. Construction starts at 8am to 6pm. Also the hotel is old and there is no cooling ac. Rooms were hot in regard of temperature. I’m very disappointed.

This hotel is near the train station and a Marriott, which were the two main reasons we picked it. All hotels in Amsterdam these days are expensive, and this one is no different. However it is undergoing some renovation that is quite loud and starts promptly at 9am. For our trouble we were given a candy bar, which does not seem to be quite enough restitution, but we understand the market. The front desk staff and concierge services were friendly and helpful. If we need another Marriott close to the train and ship docks, we would stay here again.

The rooms are nice; they are clean, reasonably spacious (by Amsterdam standards), and the bathroom was clean and modern. The location, very close to Amsterdam Centraal, is very good. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the hotel is currently undergoing renovation. The entrance is difficult to find due to this and it is a bit of a maze to find reception and the elevators. The work crews start early.

Accompanied my husband on a business trip. The location is great and the staff is fantastic. However, the hotel is basically one big construction site at the moment, and that fact should have been front and center when the reservation was made. Not ok, especially not at the high rates everyone is paying. My guess is that management just doesn't care, because TripAdvisor will just erase all the bad reviews once the renovations are completed. But for now....avoid this place unless you'd like to be woken up by a jackhammer in the immediate vicinity at 8am.

Although my recent stay at this well-located hotel in Amsterdam was less than ideal due to ongoing construction/expansion of the hotel, I would like to mention something positive that I observed. I noticed something that I would like to acknowledge is the staff in general tried twice as hard with their mannerism and positive attitude to make their guests feel welcome. I want to single out two individuals that went over and above their call of duty during my stay, they are Karla from the reception team and Lourens with the concierge team. Maybe after the construction is completed, I would like to revisit this hotel.

What a dump. The hotel is being renovated, and while I’ve stayed here many times and enjoyed it, this time my stay here was miserable. It’s noisy, dirty, and smells. The staff seemed sad and depressed to have to continually deal with disgruntled guests. The bed was old and sagging. The wifi was intermittent. The hotel lied about services provided. The gym is in a closet, the lounge is in a corner with a sheet over it, and the breakfast is a fraction of what it once was. The real scam is over-promising, under-delivering, and over-charging customers as if this was a four or five star hotel. It is not. The greedy owners/managers should be ashamed of themselves for cheating customers. It’s a two star hotel at the moment. I left early to a very nice hotel next door which charged less and is far superior, on every level (room, lobby, gym, lounge, restaurant, bar, and atmosphere (quiet).
