This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The place is filthy and the staff is completely apathetic. There were bugs in my room and no housekeeping throughout my stay. I was unable to even get clean towels. The breakfast area was also dirty with staff just standing around while tables were full of used, dirty dishes. The rooms are incredibly small and poorly designed. When you call “Guest Services” the phone rings and rings with no answer. Run don’t walk away from this place! Marriott should be ashamed to be associated with this property.
Near to the airport, great rooms and a lovely bar area. Clean room, great decor. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was brilliant. Definitely recommend a stay if you need to be near the airport. Food was good and gym was accessible and well equipped
We got off to a bumpy start when our room wasn’t ready at the check-in time, but the clerk made it right by giving us passes to the Club Lounge and upgrading us to a class of room that was available. Breakfast here is excellent. The Club Lounge tea hour is pretty great too. The in-between hours Club Lounge selection is kind of lackluster when it comes to beverage and snack selection. It is supposed to open at 6 am, it didn’t today — a shame because we really needed coffee before heading to the airport. All and all, it just has a few small quirks that are hardly the end of the world. Rooms were very clean, the bed pretty comfortable. The location is great too, close enough to be in the thick of things but offset from the chaos. I would stay here again without hesitation.
I have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years. The location is fantastic and the amenities for me as a Marriott elite have been excellent. My last visit was 2018 and Francia in the lounge and Ahmed at the concierge welcomed me back warmly! Both are exceptional employees. However the carpet in my room was disgusting, worn and dirty with many stains. And the cutbacks in the lounge food are unfortunate. Overall the rates are high for this hotel until they can return things to their former state.
Location is good (close to the central station) but that’s about it. Unfortunately the service is untypical for Renaissance hotels very low… Just a few examples from our experience: The check-in process takes ages, you could end up with a room you haven’t booked (single bed instead of queen bed), ordering in-room dining not possible as you would land on a full mailbox and bar staff wouldn’t ask for any last orders before closing and would make very clear that guests are keeping them from going home. We went here with several colleagues for a business trip and will make sure not to book this hotel in the future as the service by far doesn’t level the price.
The most horrible management Marriott ever has appointed! This was my Wifes & mine 40th Birthday Celebration year so we decided for Amsterdam. After deliberating a lot between Hilton, Marriott and NH Hotels - chose Mariott for the Bonvoy Members points but was a mistake. Anyone reading below will know why and please choose any NH Hotel as location is much better if you wanna be around the busy areas. Management of this Hotel is archaic to another level! Location of the Hotel: Very near to the Main Central Station in Amsterdam. Good restaurants around an quietly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the party scene and noise of night revelers. Still walk-able distance to all tourist hot-spot areas like Rembrandtplein, Red-light district and the Palace square. Check-in: We came in at 1 and I was told my room was ready which was a good pleasant surprise. I had requested for an upgrade as we were staying 5 nights. To my pleasant surprise the Receptionist told me they can upgrade me to a Club room but that will be available only at 3 pm. We happily agreed and headed out for lunch after dropping our bags. We came in again at 3:30 and the receptionist had changed - but the new lady told our room on the 5th floor is ready and we can proceed. We enter and its a Queen bad, sad looking room overlooking the back alley!!! The Renaissance room which I had booked on the Photos (with KING Bed) looked much better. So we went down to the Reception to ask our category of room and to our surprise were told this is the DELUXE ROOM (Base category). On explaining we were upgraded to a Club Level room the Manager who only would speak ON PHONE and not present himself said sorry but all club level rooms are full and we could only take your request but we never upgraded you!! Total utter nonsense. Not to spoil our mood and holiday as we knew from the managers tone this was pure Rac is m - we said Ok please give us a better room - at least what we have booked. He kept on insisting we have booked a Deluxe room but when we showed her receptionist our booking of Renaissance room, who was liaising between him and us for some reason when he was only 10 meters behind in an closed room but refused to come out, he said ok ok we will UPGRADE you to Renaissance room. He sounded like he was DOING US A FAVOR!! As I said not the one to spoil our mood as it was only the start we took the room on the 2nd floor - Renaissance room which was much much better with Front Street view and King Bed. Horrible Check-in experience where we lost 1:30 hrs behind the whole change of rooms etc. Room: Deluxe room dont even think! Its just a 3 star room with no view - infact a horrible back-alley view and very old furnishing. We booked the Renaissance room and was good - Ok - a 4 star room due to front facing window which made the room spacious and naturally lighted. Heres the next adventure of the trip - with the Room. Day 3 my wife and me are in the room after dinner at 10-11 pm, watching our phones and doing some light packing when suddenly my wife sees something move from the corner of her eye. She assured me there was something so I got off my bed to check and on moving the curtains we had a MOUSE in our room running around! It went and hid itself behind our bags and the curtains and was an extremely terrible experience. Luckily it ran out from under the door where there was a small opening between the floor and the door!!! Called the management to change our room immediately and once again our great Mr. Manager (who probably thinks hes the owner of the Hotel) sends in his accomplices who say they can shift us to another room (same Deluxe room with back alley view) for which we were shocked. At this moment I made it clear to the guy that if he was thinking we are making a story up for his upgrade he really needs to learn certain basics about customer service!! His 2 accomplices who came confirmed to us that they do have complains of mouse in the hotel and were apologetic. But they cannot help on room changing and can only offer as per what their great learned best ever Manager offers. We left it at that - put 3 Towels on the floor covering the door gap. Did that for the next 2 days. Over all a very average run down hotel portraying to be a 5star due to city hot-spot, location but is nothing more than a 3 or a 4 star at best! One of the worst properties of Marriott Bonvoy. I moved from Hyatt to Marriott but after this experience regretting my experience. Soon to be a Gold member this year as I have another stay booked in coming months I hope if Marriott is listening then they do something so that others dont have to go through this experience with the Manager again.…
Dirty room with dust, hair, nail. Towels and bed sheets are dirty. Previous passenger left goods inside room and house keeping team doesn’t clean it. Toilet with blood n poop does not clean it. I check out after I step into the room 40mins, After I clean the room by myself I got skin allergies . FO manager promises will refund me and did not refunded.
We stayed at this hotel just one night before embarking on a cruise. We were pleased it was so close to attractions like canal tours and museums because we had limited time to see the sights. The room was comfortable and quiet.
Just checked In. For a four night stay and the room is fairly awful. The window is tiny, ceilings are low , view (while not expecting one) is a hideous courtyard in middle of hotel, and front desk staff unhelpful. They told us to rebook online. No way to treat an elite member. Stay away. No
Stayed in September 2022. Hotel is average but in a great location. Had delays checking in and I'm still waiting for a copy of my bill after check out. Other colleagues staying at the hotel had multiple issues when dealing with reception. A colleagues room wasn't cleaned at all one day. My room was refreshed perfectly each day. Exec lounge doesn't offer breakfast, so you must use the busy canteen. I had to ask 4 times for the receptionist to add my Bonvoy account number at check it. He had to reissue new keys after he finally took it. Not worth >€350 per night for single occupancy.
