Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Everyone is friendly and you can tell they are eager to help you discovering Amsterdam. It is centric and you can walk to every place you may want to visit! The hotel feels smaller than what it really is! Breakfast at the Executive floor (located one floor above the lobby) I

Clean and tidy hotel, good service, as well as helpful and professional staff. The room was very good and clean, though the bathroom was ever so slightly on the smaller side. The location is very good, only a few minutes to walk to the Central station, nice place for a base

Usually they keep upgrades for Marriott members. You should call or email the hotel and ask now for an upgrade. Hotel is very popular and fills up.

Sorry, I also don't know the difference between those two room types. The hotel was full when we arrived and while we didn't get an upgrade consistent with Marriott status, we got a nice quiet room promptly and liked it.

My understanding is that many cruise passengers stay at the Renaissance prior to their cruise. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute taxi ride to the river cruise port.
