Stayed here earlier this month on our first visit to Amsterdam. Excellent location adjacent to Dam Square in the centre of the city. Hotel very clean and the staff are all very friendly, helpful and speak excellent English. We paid extra for an upgraded twin room (Room 229) on the front of the hotel overlooking the street with a very...

Stayed here a few times before and during refurbishment and so its nice to have a refurbished room. My room was average size though the bed was set back in a recess which - though an understandable use of space - didn't give the best impression. I did have a double room but if there had have been two of...

Stayed here recently at the beginning of a bicycling vacation in Holland. The location was great, but the bathroom is almost bigger than the room. For two of us sharing the room, it was quite tight. They provided a hot pot to make tea, but it was challenging to find a place in the room where you could set it...

Enjoyed a really delicious meal at the "bar" in this hotel & the prices were very reasonable. They offer an option of regular sized portions & "taster" portions (small-sized)-------being a small eater, the taster portions were perfectly sized for me. Loved the "old-world-dark-wood-library" decor & the staff was so friendly ("Hi Marten!) Creative menu ideas-----homemade ravioli stuffed with Dutch shrimp,...

We asked for a quiet room, which we got therefore no noise from traffic. Reception staff were very helpfull. Room cleaned every day. Good location very near Dam square, bars and restaurants. 5 minute walk from the train station. We would stay here again.

The hotel is well preserved for a building that is probably a few centuries old. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. Who can complain about the folks from the Netherlands? The hotel is located near Dam Square, and in walking distance of the main station. It is also in walking distance of some interesting places in Amsterdam, as well...

I stayed here for 5 nights with a friend and really enjoyed it. The room itself was a nice size, I wouldn't say huge, however plenty of room for a couple. It was also safe. Room was very clean and bathroom was very clean, came equipped with a bath and a shower. The maids cleaned, changed sheets and towels everyday...

I choose to stay here again for my sons 16th as it was just me and him this time and i wanted a hotel i felt safe in. The room we were given was massive. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room which is nice. Loads of space for luggage, hangers and desk. I had clean towels everyday in...

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Hotel Die Port van Cleve is a famous Dutch hotel located directly behind the Royal Palace & facing Dam Square. Due its central location, you will find many touristic and cultural sites within walking distance. Hotel Die Port van Cleve has a rich history. Heineken opened its first brewery in this building in 1864. Brasserie ‘De Poort’ is famous for its numbered steaks and Bar-Bodega ‘De Blauwe Parade’ has an unique Delft blue tile fresco dating from 1887.
